Take 1 20 mg Xarelto for A-fib, advised not to take 1 Aleve (naproxen) nightly for anti-inflammatory help. Aleve (naproxen) is not aspirin/antiplatelet so why?
Not: Tylenol (acetaminophen) does not work well in gout. Drugs used in the short term are colchicine, indomethacin, or prednisone. If there are frequent recurrent disabling attacks of gout, erosions of bone on X-Rays, chalky deposits of uric acid (gout crystals) under the skin, or uric acid kidney stones, a long term Rx such as allopurinol would be needed to lower the uric acid. ...Read more
How are 800mg Ibuprofen tablets different than taking 4 200mg ibuprofen tablets? This is for arthritis treatment.
1 vs 4 pills: no difference, but at your age I would be very concerned about such a high dose doe to potential kidney damage and other problems like ulcers in your stomach and bowel with bleeding and perforations. Probably naproxen: Naproxen has been used for many years to treat acute episodes of gout-colcichine has been used longer but has more side effects if pushed.Celebrex (celecoxib) is an N SAID too but used more for having less gastrointestinal side effects. So the person who knows best with your history is the prescribing. Doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I'm currently taking aleve-d for a sinus infection. Is it safe to also take tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for immediate pain relief?
Is tylenol (acetaminophen) weight dependant like ibuprofen? I'm 350 lbs. Ibuprofen was prescibed 6-800 mg/4-6 hours. Do i need to adjust my tylenol (acetaminophen) dosage as well?
WHOA! : Neither is weight-dependent for full-sized adults (...Or bigger). Ibuprofen's safe maximum daily dose is 2400mg total. Acetaminophen's safe maximum daily dose is 3000mg total. The one does not impact the other. Problem is that you could be 8'6" and 350#, but your liver and kidneys are about the same size as a 4'6" 100# adult. Use caution! ...Read more
Either.: You can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) AND Advil OR Aleve. Do not take both Aleve and Advil as they are the same class (NSAIDs). If you wish for more pain control, you can take tylenol (acetaminophen) as directed & also take one of the NSAID's in between Tylenol (acetaminophen) doses. Don't exceed the rec. dose of either one. but you may take the recommended dose of each, just not within an hour of each other. Using them both increases relief. ...Read more
