Is abdominal pain all over part of IBS? Hasn't been this way before, that I recall.

R U sure U have IBS?: The GI tract has a very limited # of symptoms to signal its distress--nausea/vomiting, diarrhea/constipation, bloating, pain, fullness, bleeding, etc. As you know, many of these characterize ibs, but are also seen with inflammatory, infectious, ischemic, malabsorptive, and functional disorders. Directed lab work, imaging, biopsies, stool studies are appropriate in excluding non-ibs pathology. ...Read more

More sprecific tests: Ibs is garbage can diagnosis meaning "we don't know". Had clear scope d/ w IBS - does IBS cause lower left abdominal constant discomfort? The pain however is not relieved after movement?

Maybe not: The key to your answer is in the definition of "constant discomfort." if you are awakening from sleep due to pain, your symptoms don't come and go but are unchanging and ever present (or are actually worsening) then it is unlikely you have irritable bowel syndrome. In such a case, further evaluation is warranted rather than you just taking symptom-based medicine. ...Read more

Hi. I have a pinching pain in my upper left side of abdomen. It seems to be coming from just under the ribs. I have diverticulitis and IBS. IBS?

Nonspecific: There is no specific diagnosis to left upper quadrant abdominal pain. Sometimes I have seen muscle spasms here, associated with intermittent pain and a "bulge". This can be confused for a hernia, but the bulge is the firm muscle that's in spasm. You'll have to see your doctor for a more complete evaluation if you need more info. Hope this helps! ...Read more

I had IBS/SIBO and am not having any other symptoms aside from abdomen swelling really big and pain. It's like chronic inflammation. What can I do?

A food sensitivity: Is a possibility. Stay w/your doctors and consider getting a food sensitivity panel. Conventional panels are not always as helpful. Peace and good health. ...Read more
