Had loads wind yest then in night got a dull/discomfort feeling tucked up under left rib near my side still have the feeling now, I also have ibs-c?
Severe pain in left side of my ribs into my back. Suffer with ibs tablet not helping. Spasmol. Pain getting worse?
Maybe not Gut: Could be ur ribs or rather the small joint spaces in between the ribs called costochondritis which is better treated with ibuprofen or NSAIDS in general. Key is it if it hurts when u press on area or take deep breaths. With IBS, constipation can be an issue, and if that is in ur case, then working on ur Bowel movements is key with fiber, hydration, stool softeners or laxatives. ...Read more
Been diagnosed with IBS is discomfort below both sides of rib cage a symptom of ibs. Not painful just uncomfortable at times?
Perhaps: Ibs can cause bloating or uncomfortable distension, which can be felt beneath the rib cage, but most often the pain or cramps are in the lower left abdomen. Please see your physician to exclude other causes (conditions of the liver, pancreas, lungs, kidneys, etc). Most ibs discomfort is strongly related to passing a bowel movement (gets better afterwards). ...Read more
Possible cause of random jolts of pain below ribs on far left side of back? Lasts a few seconds; not severe just startling. I get pain from gastritis and IBS often but this a new feeling/location.
Sharp stabbing pain directly below my ribs in the centre of my body on the front. IBS or something else?
Consider this...: If you're indicating your epigastrium (just below the ribs in the midline), then you may have peptic disease (e.g. ulcer, gerd, reflux) or contractions or delayed emptying of the gut in that location (stomach, mid-colon). Less likely (& appropriate to symptom duration, intensity, timing, risks) your gallbladder or pancreas may be sick. Best to get checked. ...Read more
I am 51 yrs old I have a history of IBS yet I have for 3 days am getting pain between my upper ribs reminds me of contractions what can it be from?
DX ibs after lots of tests. I have constant bloated feeling upper left quad behind ribs. Is this normal for ibs?
Hi. I have a pinching pain in my upper left side of abdomen. It seems to be coming from just under the ribs. I have diverticulitis and IBS. IBS?
Nonspecific: There is no specific diagnosis to left upper quadrant abdominal pain. Sometimes I have seen muscle spasms here, associated with intermittent pain and a "bulge". This can be confused for a hernia, but the bulge is the firm muscle that's in spasm. You'll have to see your doctor for a more complete evaluation if you need more info. Hope this helps! ...Read more
Have IBS-C, and got a new mattress months ago. It seems to have sunk in the middle. I've woke up with back pain just below the rib cage all across. Normal?
New mattress: Unfortunately, you may need to get a new mattress or return that one. A mattress needs to be firm enough to support your spine in neutral alignment. If your mattress sinks in the middle and you are having pain, you may need to switch mattresses. ...Read more

Ibs-c uncomfortable / full feelinright up under ribs right across. Stingy type feeling were colon bends? No appetite
Sure it's just IBS?: Anatomically, the right upper quadrant (RUQ) of the abdomen includes: liver, gallbladder, pancreatic head, bile ducts and ampulla, c-loop of the duodenum, stomach antrum and pylorus, the hepatic flexure of the colon. Don't forget the diaphragm and lower chest are pretty close by. The abdominal musculature, ribs, and skin can all contribute as well to localizing RUQ pain. An exam is appropriate. ...Read more

52 yr old female with Rh low pain which goes into r rib & up to r shoulder tip. I have no gallbladder. Drs think GERD or ibs, I wonder if it is gyni?
Could be: Gyne is a possibility. There are adhesive diseases that could give you those symptoms. Does it feel like the symptoms you had before you lost your gallbladder? If so, you may want to rule out a retained stone or other gallstone related issue. You can be scoped to look for gerd, ulcers gastritis etc. Ibs should be a diagnosis of exclusion. When was your surgery? ...Read more
Cramps under left & right rib area get better when I sleep and stay beter for few hours after waking up. Is it indicative of IBS (Irrtble bowl synd)?
Cramps: Recurrent abdominal cramps can occur in irritable bowel syndrome but usually there are other symptoms like bloating, constipation and/or episodes of urgent diarrhea. If you don't experience these other symptoms is it possible that you're having cramps from the abdominal muscles? Recurrent or frequent muscle cramps can occur with deficiencies of calcium, magnesium or potassium. Discuss this with MD ...Read more

I've used senna off and on for about 2yrs for IBS. Would this cause my liver enzymes to elevate causing me fullness and pain under my rib?
Let's find out: This might be a great time to stop using that stuff in any case. The stuff is infamous for elevating liver enzymes after a few months. If they don't go back to normal, you'll get a workup for other causes. This is serious. ...Read more
I have IBS and Crohn's disease. Today I'm experiencing sharp pains in my left upper abdomen, under ribs on left side and my back. Related to Crohns?
Could be: Unfortunately it can be hard to tell as many things can cause those symptoms. Have you had a crohn's flair in the past? If so, does it feel similar. I would watch for red flags (prolonged or worse pain, blood in the stool, fevers, chills, etc). If so I would get seen immediately. ...Read more

Ibs-c wen I finally have a BM I get lots of bad bubbling in between ribs an navel right across also bubbling in anus. Why?
Gas backs up: When you are constipated, the gas backs up and is trapped around the stool. When you go to the bathroom, the gas is then released. Also, having the stool sitting in the colon for a long time causes fermentation - the bacteria and broken down vegetables in the stool produce carbon dioxide, which increases your gassiness. ...Read more

Pain under right ribs, nausea throughout the day, + strong smelling urine (2 mnths) GP says probably my IBS. It feels different though. Any ideas please?
GB or other causes: IBS is a non specific diagnosis used for GI complaints when all other causes have been eliminated. It's not a true diagnosis. Has your gallbladder been evaluated - that would be the most common cause of RUQ pain and nausea? Strong urine could be due to dehydration if you're not taking in enough fluid and nourishment. Not enough info here for in depth evaluation. Push for more evaluation. Good luck ...Read more
Gi says I have ibs and constipation I'm having a burning sensation under my right rib gallbladder removed last year is it from ibs?
Could be: Hard to say for sure, because there is no formal testing for IBS. It certainly is not your gallbladder. It doesn't sound dangerous, and you should ask your doctors if it is appropriate for you to take medication for IBS. At least a trial to see if it helps. Hope this helps! ...Read more
