Ibs Pain Relief
I've been having IBS flare ups lately. Is there anything i can do to give me immediate relief? I can't sleep or anything right now. Thanks!
IBS: I need not tell you ibs can be real annoying. Stress and diet can play a major role in ibs exacerbations. If your dr. Prescribed anti-spasmodics for you or anxiety pills, they may provide your best chance of quick relief, but the cause of and treatment for ibs is often multi-factorial and no magic answers for an immediate fix may be found. Diet and fluids: I rarely prescribe meds for ibs. In my experience teaching people to eat and drink properly resolves most if not all symptoms when the patient is compliant and follows through. Hi fiber, 80-100 ounces non caffeine, non alcoholic beverages each day, regular meal times, excercise. Consistency is the key to being symptom free. ...Read more

I have IBS with both diariaha and constipation . I have started dropping out of my favorite things because it is uncontrollable diariaha. What can I do to get relief? I've cut out a lot of foods.
Dr swears I have ibs. Symptoms are extreme, bentyl (dicyclomine) provides no relief. What can I do? Can only eat bread. Everything makes me 'sick'.
I am having constipation, and abdominnal pain for the last 3 days. I am on duspatalin retard for IBS already. Is there any immediate relief possible?
Medication can exist: First, being a 38 year old makes the chances of having an undiagnosed complicating condition less likely---but this medication can certainly make constipation worse. Your should call your prescribing physician to apprise him/her. Depending on other c0nditions, prior surgery, type of pain - different exams, xrays, interventions may be required-unless this a typical pain pattern for your condition. ...Read more
I have been diagnosed with IBS, gastritis, hpylori and also been on a strict diet. . ive taken nexium (esomeprazole). what else can i do? ive had no relief.
See answer: Without knowing your symptoms, it is difficult to assess what the best therapy would be. Have you had the H. pylori treated? If so, did you have confirmation of eradication? The gastritis should improve and it would leave IBS that could be dictating your symptoms. There are a variety of therapies that can be used depending on your symptoms. ...Read more
My wife is taking Prozac (fluoxetine) primarily for IBS relief (been on it 2 weeks). She has a severe cold and I want to know if NyQuil would be ok or not.
Caution: Nyquil and many cold/cough OTC meds contain dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant, which can interact with serotonergic antidepressants like Prozac (fluoxetine) to increase risk for serotonin syndrome. Ask pharmacist for advice to avoid dextromethorphan. See: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/serotonin-syndrome/basics/definition/con-20028946 I hope this helps. Best wishes. ...Read more
