Pain on left side of hip radiating into back. Drinking 3 drinks a night. Only 25 female. Have IBS and other issues. Could this be caused from drinking?
Possible: Many factors can worsen the symptoms of ibs, your nutrition and stress are two big ones. 3 drinks a night could possibly worsen the symptoms of ibs and will definitely cause other problems with your health. The best approach is to cut back on your drinking and see if your symptoms improve. If you are honestly having 3 drinks every night, cut back on your alcohol intake slowly. ...Read more

OK to try if...: Many people feel better after a juice cleanse. However, I advise doing only if the juices are organic. I have fibromyalgia and IBS and have been taking l-glutamine powder for 5 days. I've gained 1,5kgs and my stomach hurts, should I stop? I'm 22, female
Glutamine powder: is supposed to help improve your immune system health but there is no scientific studies proving that it works and at what dosage. So people tend to think if 1 gram helps, 1 kg of it must help 1000 times. Of course it doesn't work like that, but there is no actual guide in how much is enough. So people get fooled into buying large amounts of this supplement without having a clue how to take it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

When was your surgery? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hello, I'm a female & have irritating pain off & on, not sharp pain, in my left side, in line with belly button. Feels like pinching. Have IBS-C. thnx?
By left side,: I'm not sure whether you mean in the left side of your abdomen or around to your side in what we call the flank area. Pain in the flank/side is often associated with something in the kidney...maybe even a little kidney stone? Pinching is not a common characteristic of abdominal pain...intensifying cramping would be suggestive of bowel obstruction. Not sure IBS related. Need eval; see your Doctor. ...Read more

IBS: IBS is generally not associated with hormonal fluctuations directly, but the stress from higher estrogen levels dropping at ovulation and just prior to menstruation can activate symptoms commonly acquired with the diagnosis of IBS. Low dose oral bcp's (in no contraindications exist) may reduce the stress via stopping ovarian production of estrogen. Ask your gyn provider. ...Read more
