Should be checked: Pain on the left side or under the belly button could be diverticulitis. R lower could be a chronic appendicitis. You state to be taking laxatives so I believe defecation is difficult. I would recommend a physician evaluation blood count to see if the white cells are up, a gastroentrologist or internist are good stating points but dont keep putting this off. ...Read more

Irritable bowel synd: Lifestyle & dietary modification is recommended for irritable bowel syndrome w/constipation predominance (IBS-C). Laxatives of your choice can be added if necessary. Lubiprostone & Linaclotide are approved for use in IBS-C. Ginger tea: I'm a strong advocate of ginger - boil a few slices in water x 10 min, add some honey and drink - it should help with stomach pains and nausea. "Volume" -that is beverages (without caffeine!) can help when you have GI losses like yours. Fluids will help with 'strength' as well-restoring some energy. Another drink I like is hot chocolate-melt dark chocolate in hot water. No milk, but little sugar. ...Read more
