Not really: Both use the same medications. Uc has a higher risk of colon cancer down the road and can be helped with surgery where crohn's cannot. (also look into chinese medicine and acupuncture as adjunctive therapies. ). ...Read more

They are all related: Your Crohn's, psoriasis, and Hashimoto's are extremely related issues. I am certainly against long term steroid use, since many other agents exist without the long term side-effects of steroids, AVN being one. You need to come off steroids if still on and use other drugs to control Crohn's and psoriasis. I see from your med list that your hypothyroidism is being treated! Short answer:No: Asacol (mesalamine) (other names in US but are meselamine long acting.Asacol (mesalamine) available from Canada under other names) will turn the inflammn. to "quiescent"but not normal.If only in left colon there is no risk of colon cancer in future.If in entire colon(pancolitis):after 10 years annual colonoscopy & 4 quadrant biopsy every 10cms to check for dysplasia.Important to keep taking meselamine even if no symptoms. ...Read more

Dx of IBS and early stage autoimmune disorder taking omeprazole, bupropion, plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) and bentyl as needed. I have period cramps.  Best OTC pain meds?

Ibuprofen or aleve (naproxen): Take them early before the cramps get too bad and take 2 of the aleve (naproxen) twice a day and 3-4 of the Ibuprofen 3 times a day. You aso can soak in a hot tub. That often helps as well. Hope that helps. ...Read more
