The: The symptoms are not typical for a migraine alone. You noted two distinct and dramatic symptoms (double vision, blur), separated in time, and I think you indicate a headache as well. More history will help to zero in on the problem, and if you were my patient i'd have you come in promptly (i.e. That day) to figure out what's going on. While migraine (which can change in presentation over time), loss of control of a pre-existing eye muscle imbalance, and/or surface irritation would be the most benign cause, other, time sensitive and potentially dangerous situations should be investigated immediately. You might have a vascular cause needing immediate attention (e.g. Transient ischemic attack, temporal arteritis or other inflammations) or other issues. My advice: see your eye md asap. ...Read more

Go to Opht ASAP: Sudden blurriness is worrisome. I would try to see the ophtalmologist or optometrist right away today or tomorrow or at least a pcp to rule out retinal tears, acute arterial or venous retinal vessel thrombosis, vitreal diseases. Changes in vision, blurriness, blind spots, halos around lights, or dimness of vision should always be evaluated by a medical professional. ...Read more

The: The blurring of vision you are describing could be caused by a large list of reasons ranging from benign dry eye to a more serious blood flow issue. It is important to note if you are experiencing any other neurologic symptoms during these episodes such as headache, nausea, numbness/weakness of your arms or legs, dizzyness, ect. These could be signs of a blood flow issue and warrants a prompt workup with your pcp.

The fact it clears with Aspirin is unusual and may or may not be related to your condition. Dry eye can also cause blurry vision when you wake up. This usually resolved with blinking or consistant artificial tears. Other corneal issues have also been known to cause blurryness in the am.

I'm sorry I can not give you a set answer. You do need a proper eye examination by an ophthalmologist to rule out corneal or retinal problems. If the eye examination is normal, the doctor may want to refer you to a neuro-ophthalmologist for a further evaluation. ...Read more

Blurred vision: Blurred vision can be due to any number of things. If you woke up with blurry vision, it's possible your eye was open during the night and it is now dry, causing blurry vision, especially if you normally sleep on the same side. If the blurry spot enlarges, becomes more dense, or generally is not improving within 24 hours and no associated symptoms, should have eye doctor look soon. ...Read more

I woke up this morning and my left eye was very red and my pupil was huge (I could still see). I do not know what to do besides use eye drops.

Possible hemorrhage: If there is no pain and no discharge, with normal vision, a likely diagnosis is hemorrhage in the subconjunctival space which looks dramatic but is usually not harmful to the eye and vision. Were both pupils huge? And did they react to light? If so, then the hemorrhage is even more likely. ...Read more

All connected: If you get out an anatomy picture of your head you will see that your throat, nasal passages, and eye sockets are all connected. So when you have fluid in one of those spaces it not infrequently migrates to another. So sorry but that's our anatomy. The good thing is that "colds" are time limited infections. Difficult to say: If you're describing an after image like what you may experience from a camera flash with persistence, this may represent an aura of a migrainal event (with or without headache). If however you are noticing grayed out vision, it maybe retinal or vascular issue. An exam will help to elucidate whether your symptom is eye or other problem. ...Read more

My eye is sore and its inside the corner of my left eye? Not sure why... I woke up with it

A few possibilities: A common reason for a focal area of soreness on the eyelid is acne-like clogging of glands on the lid, causing a stye or chalazion. You could also have a noncontagious allergic reaction to something that got on your skin (dermatis) or eye (conjunctivitis). If the swelling is on the inner part of your lower lid between your lid and your nose, you may have a more serious infection (dacryocystitis). ...Read more
