Styes: If you have styes, then you likely have have underlying blepharitis (lid inflammation) which is causing your meibomian glands to become occluded and infected (like a pimple). Treatment is usually warm compresses for at least 12 minutes followed by lid massages with possible antibiotic/steroid combination eyedrop.

I squeezed a stye I have had in my eye for awhile and this morning I woke up with my bottom eyelid very swollen should I be worried?

I squeezed a stye I have had in my eye for awhile and this morning I woke up with my bottom eyelid very swollen should I be worried?

Treatment of stye: A stye is usually a self-limited localized infection in the eyelid. Squeezing it probably caused the infection to spread to a larger area but usually still not serious. The treatment involves warm compresses regularly and oral antibiotics if the infection is significant. Also, sometimes there is a persistent lump left when the infection is gone. This occasionally needs to be removed.

See MD: You need to get to a doctor to properly evaluate the cause. There may be infection or trauma that you were unaware of as may occur during sleep. This is not an appropriate condition to address online.

Blepharitis: It sounds like from your description, you have inflammation of your eye lid, which is often caused by an infection, similar to that in "pink eye" (conjunctivitis). When it comes to your eye, best not to wait, . I would see a dr. Now. Best wishes.

Spent all day crying yestrdy. I woke up today with my lower eyelids puffy swollen and crusty, and a little itchy. Can excess crying cause pink eye?

Eyelid edema: Following intense emotional situations with crying, runny nose, and lots of wiping eyelids and nose secretions, the eyelids often swell, eyes look red, and the ocular surface may be slightly irritated. Mucous is generated by the eye in response to the irritation. Sometimes contamination can be introduced into the eye with all the wiping. Not usually an infection results, but if worse, see eye doc.

What can I do my eyelid was swollen yesterday woke up tis morning with both top and bottom swollen what to help please. Thank you?

Allergy or infection: Allergy would be most typical of both lids and cool soaks may help. Also, conjunctivitis or pink eye can cause this as well. If there is a lot of secretion or if the lids or stuck together in the am, see an eye doctor.

Eyelid swelling with: Can be indicative of an allergic reaction. What's wrong with my sister she woke up with swollen eyelids and face with toothache?

What's wrong with my sister she woke up with swollen eyelids and face with toothache?

Infection: It sounds as if your sister might have an abscessed tooth and the infection has spread into the tissue. This can sometimes happen even overnight and swell the face and eyelid shut. Going to a dentist and being placed on antibiotics needs to be done asap. Depending on the severity of the swelling a course of IV antibiotics may need to be given.

Wait a few days.: If Benadryl (diphenhydramine) helps without causing drowsiness, you may wait a few more days to see how it goes. If the problem is getting worse or lasting more than 10 days, consider seeing your doctor.

Woke up 4 days with a swollen and painful eyelid. I've had chalazia before, so I recognize this, but 4 days seems like a long time for swelling/pain?

Woke up 4 days with a swollen and painful eyelid. I've had chalazia before, so I recognize this, but 4 days seems like a long time for swelling/pain?

Typical: This sounds typical of an acute hordeolum with diffuse eyelid swelling. If persists longer that a week, it can result in a chalazion. See an eye MD for evaluation and treatment if your hot compress/eye massage routine doesn't resolve your swelling and pain.

4YO woke up with a red swollen eyelid, was fine at bedtime. Suspect bug bite in the night. What else could it be? Give benedryl? Seems happy otherwise

Infection or trauma: If your child is otherwise unwell, have them seen. A bug bite should be itchy and resolve in 1-2 days. All the best.

I woke up with a swollen eyelid and pain on the side of my eye. What should I do?

Possibly a stye: Try very warm compresses 2-4 times per day for 10' a time followed by gentle massages to the eye lid may help the backed-up oil gland secretions to drain. Usually this technique resolves the swelling and the stye should resolve within a week. However, if the swelling and pain increases, seek help from an eye md.

I woke up with a swollen eyelid and pain on the side of my eye. What could this mean?

Several things: This problem mandates a real-time (face-to-face) meeting with a doctor. A history has to be taken along with a examination as well as labs and other tests. Only after all this will his doctor be in a position to tell him what's wrong and what needs to be done to help him.
