I was recently diagnosed with two tiny pe. I have to have a colonscopy in 21 days. Is it ok to stay on Coumadin (warfarin) and be put under with the pes ?

No: You can't undergo a colonoscopy while on warfarin due to risk of bleeding, you can't even be on aspirin. Talk with your gastroenterologist. Pulmonary emboli are very serious. You would have to stop the warfarin before the procedure (not advisable) or postpone the procedure, or your GI doc may choose another way to examine your colon (such as ct scan), depending on why you need the colonoscopy. ...Read more

Coumadin (warfarin) sunburn: A sunburn will not affect your Coumadin (warfarin) levels. Reasonable to take: Diastolic HF refers to stiffness in the heart muscle where the heart muscle doesn't relax fully after each contraction. Losartan is in a class of medications that helps the heart function better - independent of its effect on blood pressure. The consensus is not universal but overall is considered the right thing to do. Unless you are very sensitive, this dose shouldn't affect your pressure. ...Read more

My BP is 140/90, is this a problem? I had a pe in january of 2010, was put on warfarin for 6 months. They believe it was the birth control pills and immediately stop

Family history?: Birth control pills do increase your risk for developing a blood clot, but they don't increase that risk as much as pregnancy does. There are also clotting problems that can run in the family. You should ask your doctor about being testing for a familial reason to develop clots, and you should definitely be using another method of birth control to prevent pregnancy while you're on warfarin. ...Read more

I am not on blood pressure medicine, but my blood pressure has been slightly elevated lately?

Zodiacs: Well there are many meanings for zodiac I'm not sure what you mean by it. At 69 with a calcium score of zero that's good news. The slightly elevated bp is meaningless without numbers. If it isn't above 140 at rest systolic that's good. Not sure what you're asking with the ? ...Read more
