Intriguing: There are some early research studies that suggest that pregnenalone may indeed do what you're describing. It's too early to consider it a psychiatric drug for anxiety and mood disorders. Many possibilities: You should probably talk to the doctor who prescribed the medication. Sometimes a dose increase will keep the medication working. The body does get used to certain medications and this is why dose changes can sometimes help or if that does not work you could even discuss a change in the medication to a totally different kind of medication. I've been on antidepressants, and I find after I've been on a certain dosage for a while, I get used to it and the dose stops working. What do I do?

Consider therapy: There are some really skilled CBT therapists who can help people who respond as you describe. It's good! You are expressing an Expectancy Response that shows you'd benefit from hope, trust and support. You can learn how to find these and use them to manage your life better.
