Infection? Gout?: Time to look for other things that may not be seen on an xray. Your doctor was probably looking for any small fracture that could be causing the pain. Have you had any fevers? Redness? Recent cuts or abrasions around the finger? Consider that your symptoms may be from an infection. Gout is another possibility.
