Not really: The best way to relax and fall asleep is to stop what ever you are doing, specially electronics for a good 30 minutes before you want to fall asleep. Let the brain "computer" time to "shut down" if you will. ...Read more

Nexium (esomeprazole): is a 24 hour drug. Personally I don't think it matters when you take it as long as you take it at approx the same time daily. It is not a take it as you need it drug. It does take a couple of days to start working well depending on the severity of your symptoms. ...Read more

Post : Post traumatic stress disorder can cause people to be acting out their dreams and should be considered. There are medication for nightmares as well therapy modality call emdr (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) that helps with dealing with the flashbacks, reexperiencing of trauma. However there are neurological conditions that can result in violent behaviors in sleep. Rem behavioral disorder (rem- rapid eye movement- a stage of sleep in which a lot of dreaming happens) is a condition in which the individual begins to act out his or her dreams in contrast to normal state when all physical activity during sleep is paralyzed. A neurological evaluation may be necessary to assess for this condition which can respond to treatment with medications. Abnormal sleep patterns may also be parasomnia - abnormal behaviors of sleep without necessarily an abnormal finding in the brain but which can also be addressed with medication. In all cases, this is a good time to see a sleep specialist or a neurologist. You may discuss this with your primary care doctor as well but do get an evaluation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

They say TV/screens before bed is bad for you. However, for me, that is how I relax before I go to sleep. I can't fall asleep w/o it. It soothes me..?
Individual: Hello, most sleep researchers advise against it as studies have suggested that blue LED light inhibits the production of melatonin. Your particular routine may override these deleterious effects, however, and watching TV before sleep is certainly better/healthier than some things you might do. I think the real question is whether you are waking up feeling refreshed, and without aches and pain. ...Read more

Yes: Acclimating to a new sleeping routine can change, and it may depend upon your health, nutrition and attitudes. If you are having difficulty, try trial and error with different sleep times and see if that works. Change the lighting in the room, change sounds- a fan, sound machine, etc. If continued issues, i would see a sleep specialist. ...Read more

Not advisable: Ativan will commonly cause amnesia. You should not drink in combination with the Ativan, the result can be as you found, but can be more serious including death. Your dose of Zoloft (sertraline) is very low, and not likely an interaction with either the alcohol or ativan. ...Read more
I have been sleeping for a while now with the tv on. Almost over a year. I listen to it! how can I ease into getting to sleep well at night?
Use a timer: Perhaps you use the tv to keep you company until you fall asleep? If so, maybe you can put your tv on a timer, so that it will shut the tv off automatically after, say, 10 or 15 minutes. It's obviously better to fall asleep naturally, but using a timer to turn off the tv will at least limit your exposure to the potentially harmful electromagnetic fields emitted by electronic equipment, like tvs. ...Read more
