Took provera (medroxyprogesterone) 10 mg for 7 days, when period will come??

Took provera (medroxyprogesterone) 10 mg for 7 days, when period will come??

Soon: As long as your body is capable of producing estrogen, you will build a uterine lining. Taking provera (medroxyprogesterone) prepares the lining to be shed like a menstration. This is also known as a withdrawal bleed and should occur about 24 to 48 hours after stopping the provera (medroxyprogesterone). If by this time you have not had any spotting or bleeding, you should get further advice from your doctor ...Read more

Took Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 10 days, period 10 days so far very heavy and lots of clots and pain. When will it stop?

Unnatural cycle...: Induced by Provera (medroxyprogesterone) withdrawal can be unpredictable. If a perimenopausal patient goes many months between periods, the lining could have been very thick over that time and the period longer and heavier. Also around menopause, the estrogens needed to rebuild a new lining to seal off the old can be reduced. If you are concerned and the bleeding is not slacking off, see your GYN. ...Read more

I have taken provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 7 days it has now been 14 days since my last pill and still I have no sign of a period. Please can you advise what to do?

Pregnancy test: First step is to check a pregnancy test. If it is negative you need to have some additional blood work to look for other disorders. If you are very thin then that maybe part of the problem but there are other disorders that make you have low estrogen. ...Read more

No period after 9 days after taking the provera (medroxyprogesterone) pill. Should I be concerned?

Amenorrhea: After taking Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for amenorrhea (no periods) patients must wait at least 1 to 2 weeks after last dose to see their period. If period is less than usual that is still considered a succesful therapy. If no period, other causes must be ruled out. ...Read more

How long does it take to start your period affer you have taken 10mg of provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 10 days?

A few days: Normally the Provera (medroxyprogesterone) helps build up the lining of the endometrium. When you stop the Provera (medroxyprogesterone) you effectively have a withdrawal bleed. It is not really a menstrual period however it appears to be the same thing to you. If it is over a week and you still don't have a bleed I would go back and be rechecked. ...Read more

I was put on provera (medroxyprogesterone) 10mg/10 days to have a period and it didn't help. Its been over a week since my last pill. Why could this be?

I was put on provera (medroxyprogesterone) 10mg/10 days to have a period and it didn't help. Its been over a week since my last pill. Why could this be?

Often not enough: That is a very standard regimen of Progesterone but it will not work on everyone. Schedule a follow up to go over the options. Most should have a pregnancy test, thyroid and prolactin tests done. Many patients with pcos will not cycle with this dose. Some need a higher dose and others will need to try birth control pills with estrogen and Progesterone to have a cycle. ...Read more

If you take oral provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 10 days and if you get your period with it and then if you don't take it next month, will your period come on it's own?

Sometimes: It depends on the underlying problem. Sometimes a short course of Provera (medroxyprogesterone) that is used to cause you to have a period will 'kick start' things and you will resume a normal cycle. If it does not then you can take the medicine again. ...Read more

Came of provera (medroxyprogesterone) 3 days ago (took them for 15 days to stop bleeding), now I'm having a period and the blood is dark brown. Is that ok?

Yes: It is expected to have some withdrawal bleeding after coming off the provera (medroxyprogesterone). Dark brown is old blood. So as long as there is no heavy bright red bleeding things seem fine. Be sure to follow-up with the doctor who prescribed the medication. ...Read more

Stop abnormal bleed: Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is sometimes used to "reset" the lining of your uterus by performing a chemical a D & C. This stops the abnormal bleeding initially. Then within 24 to 72 hours after your last Provera (medroxyprogesterone) tablet, your should have a heavy period. ...Read more

I took medroxyprogesterone for 5 days and im starting my period. I was wondering if I could get pregnant after having this period?

I took medroxyprogesterone for 5 days and im starting my period. I was wondering if I could get pregnant after having this period?

Depends: The progesterone triggers the bleeding by providing the hormone that you were presumably low in which allowed your estrogen to continue building up the lining of the uterus unopposed. This may get your cycle back on track but if you have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome it may happen again. Speak with provider about why they felt you needed the progesterone and what they expect after this regimen. ...Read more

I took medroxyprogesterone to induce a period ttc. I am on day 9 of my cycle for the last 6 days super heavy need to change every 2hrs is this normal?

Not normal: Heavy bleeding after Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is not uncommon but you need to be seen urgently to help curtail this amount of blood loss. Your gyn will have reviewed your hsg x ray to ensure the cavity of the uterus is free of polyps/fibroids and you may need blood clotting tests. ...Read more

Unknown: I assume you were prescribed povera for irregular periods. Since you didn't have a cycle after taking it clearly it did not work for you. Since your periods are irregular there is no way to predict when one might come. Birth-control pills would likely be more effective to regulate you. ...Read more

MPA: Provera (medroxyprogesterone) can take up to 2 weeks to start a menstrual period; if it is longer than that it 'failed.' remember that bleeding after Provera (medroxyprogesterone) can be very short and light. Lining: It could be that you have no lining to bleed from, though it looks like you have pcos based on your medications, and typically they have the opposite problem. You may need a longer dose, that is, longer than 5 days. Speak with your doctor to make sure your next step and any additional testing he/she may want to perform. Be well! ...Read more

Took provera (medroxyprogesterone) 10days. Iam on cycle day 20 after provera (medroxyprogesterone) "period". I've been spotting (dark in color) for 3 days. Hormones still out of wack?

Provera (medroxyprogesterone): Hi. Provera (medroxyprogesterone) withdrawal is usually just a test to see if a woman who's not having periods is making estrogen. It doesn't put ANY hormones back into whack if they're outta whack. With your abnormal pap and leep, see your gyn to at least make sure your cervix isn't acting up. Good luck! ...Read more

I am 52 took provera (medroxyprogesterone) to bring on menses no period after 16 days should I call my gyn is there any concern?

No concern: What this means is that you are getting very close to menopause and skipped an ovulation. The Provera (medroxyprogesterone) will only bring on a period if there has been estrogen stimulation to the lining of the uterus in the preceding month. When a woman skips an ovulation, the ovary will not make estrogen that month. So there will not be a lining to shed from taking the provera (medroxyprogesterone). ...Read more

P.C.O.S. And trying to conceive. Failed IUI + Clomid cycle. Period induced with provera (medroxyprogesterone) after 5 days of stopping pill... Now 12 days after: nothing?

No ovulation: If you did not have a spontaneous menses then you didn't ovulate. Provera will bring on a menstrual cycle if you did not ovulate. You may want to try glucophage (metformin) or Femara next to help you ovulate. If you are not on a low glycemic index diet that will help you. If you are not your ideal weight then eating better to improve your weight will help you immensely. Good luck. ...Read more
