It is indeed a common reason for someone to enter therapy. Painful memories can easily be repressed. There's no problem with that as long as they do not affect your mood, behavior, or relationships in adulthood. If they do, then it would be advisable for you to enter therapy to explore the issue further.If you wish to remember what happened, then more of an uncovering psychoanalytictherapy with hypnotic components may be advisable.
