Severe pain in right lower abdomen (along pant line). Had inguinal hernia repair 5 days ago, pain presented 3 days ago. Normal or should I call doc?
I think I have a hernia, but got diagnose with groin strain. There was no ultra sound done. Still in a fair amount of pain. What do you guys think?
Exam is best: Physical exam is usuay the best test for a hernia, unless tenderness and/or obesity limit the quality is the exam. An ultrasound can help, but not usually. Groin strain takes a while to get better, so probably correct. You can always return for a follow up visit if it persists. Another exam is not a terrible idea. Depends: Groin hernias are very common. Usually a lump in the groin the is larger when standing or coughing. If you're not sure and want to find out, see your primary care.
