Abdominal sounds: Your stomach may growl when you're hungry. Also your intestines make sounds as food is moving through. They are hollow, and these sounds can echo through your abdomen like the sounds you hear from water pipes. Most of these are normal signs that your GI system is working. Lack of sounds heard at least by stethoscope is more worrisome. Talk with your doctor if concerned about this. ...Read more

I have had a lot of head/ nasal congestion for a week. Now everytime I bite down I hear a balloon or drum tapping sound. Why? What should I take?
Fluid in ear: Those symptoms suggest you have fluid in the ear or sinuses or both. It's a common complication of a cold. If you're otherwise healthy and not having high fevers, you can try over-the-counter decongestants for a few days to see if it clears. If not, it's sometimes helped with antibiotics. I'd seek help right away, though, if you get a fever over 100, or you have loss of hearing. ...Read more

When I tap on the left side if my upper abdomen, it sounds very hollow, as well as being painful.

Will ultra sound/sonogram work for evaluation of post hernia repair (on jan 2014), hard ball like seroma in abdomen as alternate to CT scan?
No need: There is no need to perform either test, as it sounds like it is obviously present based on physical examination. If it persists past 6-12 months and/or causes a problem, it may need to get drained. This is typically a procedure done by a radiologist using either ultrasound or ct scan, which are used to guide the needle. Can also be done by the surgeon in the office without those tests. ...Read more

Why do I hear a whooshing sound when I change position (such as lying on my stomach, or standing after sitting or lying)?
