I sleep with lavender essential oil on my pillow for sleep, but lately I wake up every day with a stuffy nose. Is this normal or an allergy to it?
Not normal: It is not normal to have a stuffy nose every day. Whether this is due to allergy or not requires an examination and evaluation. The lavender oil per se is unlikely to be the cause for your congestion although the scent may potentially trigger sneezing and even a runny nose. Usual suspect: Allergy sounds like a prime suspect. It is really good that you are fine in so brief a time. In fact, it almost seems like risking side effects or building tolerances to any medications would be a mistake. Am i missing something? Is it difficult for you to bear those periods of time? Many things.: If this is seasonal, then hay fever is the most likely answer and it may be associated with coughing. However hay fever is not usually associated with lightheadedness and this needs be checked out. Probably reflux: Your symptoms do not suggest allergy. If you sleep rather flat, acid can come up the esophagus and cause either irritation of the throat or of the lining of the esophagus.
