Eye Floaters: The black spots are actually more commonly referred to as floaters and have the tendency to float around in and out of the field of vision. Sufferers can get this in one eye or both and it is especially noticeable in areas of bright sunshine or lightly colored frames. No treatment is necessary for this condition which is considered a normal variant.

Doctor can evaluate: If a new vision symptom pops up, one should see his primary care doctor and/or an ophthalmologist (eye doctor). Vision is so important, so it is good to have a doctor get the whole story and examine the eyes. It may or may not be something to worry about, but one cannot tell without an evaluation.

There is a black dot blocking my vision when I run, on each step. I cannot see. It has happened just sitting down as well. I am only 18. What's wrong?

Eye doctor to check!: A person who had normal vision, and then cannot see out of an eye (checked by covering one eye and then the other eye), needs to be examined by an eye doctor right away. This is also true if the person cannot see one part of the picture from an eye. If there is a consistent spot that blocks part of the picture, the doctor needs to look (the E.R. Has an eye doctor on call, if it is after-hours).

Takes a while: I am guessing that your ophthalmologist (not an optometrist I hope) evaluated your eye including a dilated retinal examination. Since nothing therapeutic was recommended, you are probably having changes with age in your vitreous, which commonly includes the development of floaters in the vision. The fluids move very slowly and it can take years for some spots to disappear.

When I blink, I see a black spot in the corner of my left eye. Should I be worried?

Floater: If the black spot moves with blinks, then it's likely in the vitreous. If not new and only one without flashes or decreased vision, may not be anything serious. If it's a fixed black spot, then should be checked out for a potential retinal or brain problem.

I was having light flashes on my left eye, now I see a floating black dot what is happening?

I was having light flashes on my left eye, now I see a floating black dot what is happening?

Flashes of light: Sometimes when the vitreous (gel in the back of the eye) detaches, it can cause flashes of light and floaters. However, so can a tear in the retina. I would definitely recommend a dilated exam immediately by an ophthalmologist.

Pregnant?: Get a urine test kit and check yourself in 7-10 days. Sometimes the first test is negative because you have not yet raised your HCG levels to the height necessary to activate the test. Good luck.

A small black dot on the bottom of my foot - looks like dried blood. Poked thru the top skin layer and it seems to flake off. Any reason to see a dr.?

Yes: Small hemorrhages under the thick skin on one's foot can present this way and "flake off" with time. Black dot can also be a melanoma so I would see a doctor if it does not flake away completely.

I found a small black dot on my gum behind my lower left wisdom tooth. It does not hurt or exert any pain. Please help! I see my dentist in 2 wks.?

Black dot?: Since you have an appointment with your dentist coming up, I would have him check this area. I would not panic. If you go to your dentist regularly, I am sure he has checked this area before and this black dot could have been there and you just noticed it recently. It could be a number of things such ax staining (amalgam tattoo), etc.

U/s in early preg: I will not guess whether you are preggo or not. I can say as a fellowship trained body radiologist of 30 years, that a small amount of intrauterine fluid and decidual reaction is not proof of viable pregnancy. Also, a neg. blood test does not exclude an early preg. A gestational sac would be seen before a yolk sac: http://www. Jultrasoundmed. Org/content/31/1/87.fu Consider F/U U/S in a few weeks.

I see a small black dot in my iris (brown eyes) should I be concerned? I went to the eye doctor about 1 month ago and didn't mention it.

I see a small black dot in my iris (brown eyes) should I be concerned? I went to the eye doctor about 1 month ago and didn't mention it.

No Problem: A little mole or freckle (medical term:nevus) on the iris is very common. As long as it is not growing or changing, it will not be a problem. It is extremely rare to have any problem with such a mole. Do mention it to your eye md next visit.
