Why do I sometimes see thousands of tiny red dots in front of my eyes?

Why do I sometimes see thousands of tiny red dots in front of my eyes?

Not normal: You may be seeing a back reflection of your capillaries with red blood cells moving together, but that's not something that is seen normally at rest. Make sure to have your eyes examined and retina checked. See when it occurs most often: white background, blue sky, and let your eye doctor know. Red dots by themselves individually is not common at all. ...Read more

I accidentally poked my eye with my fingernail, now there's a red dot. Should I see an eye doctor?

Depends: This is a very common injury and the bruise you now have on your eye a very common result. If your vision is unchanged, you are not having any significant eye pain, headache, light sensitivity, eye redness (other than this one spot) and if your pupil is still round in that eye then you are probably okay to watch this; use cool compresses bad artificial tears; go to your eye doctor for worsening. ...Read more

Ophthalmology: I would recommend getting re-evaluated by ophthalmology, you may need your prescription lenses re-adjusted. There are numerous reasons as to why this may be the case, but the bottom line is, lenses that are not accurate to you can cause your symptoms. Re-valuate as directed above. ...Read more

Exam needed: Without a proper examination, your child cannot be properly diagnosed. The irritated red and itchy eyes could be allergies but given the nature of a cough and a fever it seems more likely that the child has an infection going on. It is most appropriate that you seek medical attention for the childcare. ...Read more

Could be blepharitis: If your the type of person that has gotten styes or chalazions in the past, this could be what is known as blepharitis. A standard treatment for blepharitis is using a microwaveable gel mask once a day and scrubbing your eyelashes (eyes closed) with baby shampoo on a towel. Obviously nothing will be more accurate than an in person exam, so consider being seen. ...Read more

Small white dot on the brown part of my eye, I wear contacts, tearing, feeling of something there, no alergeries, redness, nonsmoker, no history, help?

Small white dot on the brown part of my eye, I wear contacts, tearing, feeling of something there, no alergeries, redness, nonsmoker, no history, help?

Corneal ulcer: The spot is probably on the cornea, the crystal over the brown iris. As you wear contacts and feel something, it most likely is an ulcer. If it is near the edge it is probably not serious but does require treatment to prevent it from getting serious. If it is near the center, it is serious and could affect your vision. Leave your contact out and see an ophthalmologist ASAP. ...Read more

My eye has been pussing for two days today is day three an it slowed down an the redness is kinda clearing up do i have symtoms of pink eye?

Pink vs red eye: Regardless of eye color, pus from eye is worrisome. Even tho it's slowed down, I'd still recommend that you see your Eye doctor, either Ophthalmologist or Optometrist, or at least your Family Doc. Don't wait for something bad/worse to happen. BTW, pink/red eye has many (non-infectious) causes so it's best to let your docs evaluate rather than taking this on as DIY project. ...Read more

Staph Margin Infiltr: A staphylococcal marginal infiltrate is the most likely diagnosis fitting your description, but a phlyctenule is also possible. SMI is associated with eyelash dandruff (blepharitis) so washing your eyelids and lashes might help with natural healing. See an ophthalmologist for a complete eye examination. If inside the eye, an iris cyst is possible, and a visit to an EyeMD will clarify the diagnosis ...Read more

Is there anything I can get from the grocery store or drug store for my eye redness until I can see a doctor?

Drug store eyedrops: Until you can get examined, you can use over the counter lubricating or tear replacement drops for comfort. Do not use drops that say "get the red out" as these are drying. If you vision is affected or if you have pain, you should make your appointment with an ophthalmologist without delay. ...Read more

My 2 years old daughter sprayed perfume into her eye. I cleaned the eye with water. Still some redness. Can see and open eye. What should I do? Thank

Get an Exam: Your daughter's eye should be examined by an ophthalmologist to determine if any chemical damage has taken place on the surface of the eye. Rinsing the eye out with water was the best initial treatment. Chemical burns, epithelial corneal or conjunctival damage may require treatment. ...Read more
