Depends: This is a very common injury and the bruise you now have on your eye a very common result. If your vision is unchanged, you are not having any significant eye pain, headache, light sensitivity, eye redness (other than this one spot) and if your pupil is still round in that eye then you are probably okay to watch this; use cool compresses bad artificial tears; go to your eye doctor for worsening. ...Read more

Ophthalmology: I would recommend getting re-evaluated by ophthalmology, you may need your prescription lenses re-adjusted. Exam needed: Without a proper examination, your child cannot be properly diagnosed. The irritated red and itchy eyes could be allergies but given the nature of a cough and a fever it seems more likely that the child has an infection going on. Could be blepharitis: If your the type of person that has gotten styes or chalazions in the past, this could be what is known as blepharitis. A standard treatment for blepharitis is using a microwaveable gel mask once a day and scrubbing your eyelashes (eyes closed) with baby shampoo on a towel.
