Eardrum perf: You need an exam. The perforation alone may cause the symptoms. But you also may have pushed wax into the middle ear, making it contaminated and infected. While cleaning my ear the qtip implailed my ear drum. My ear bleed 4 two days and it feels like my ear is plugged. Can't hear, migraine what do I do?
See an ENT DOC: Cleaning the inside of ear canal with a q-tip is a definite no no. Tearing the drum, bleeding may be repaired, but I have seen patients that have dislocated one of the 3 hearing bones. That can cause severe conduction hearing loss with normal nerve. The surgery for that although not hard is only 30 % successful with risk of facial palsy and loosing your taste on one side. ...Read more
I heard my two year old girl katherine crying. There was a qtip in her ear I took it out and there was blood on the side. Is her ear drum ruptured?
It's possible: It's certainly possible. You should take her to see her doctor. As long as she's not in pain and the ear isn't continuing to bleed, it's not an emergency. You can give her acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain and make sure not to get water in her ear (no swimming) until she's seen by her pediatrician. More often than not, the ear will heal on it's own, even if the eardrum was ruptured. ...Read more
