No: Head & shoulders does not contain any anti-fungal medication, which is what ringworm is. You need treatment with an antifungal cream, and if the ringworm is on scalp, you may well need oral anti-fungal medication, as scalp ringworm can be very resistant to topical treatment.
How easily is ringworm passed on to humans from cats? My kitten has it, the internet makes it seem like you'll get it just from being near him. True?
Ringworm contagious: Ringworm is commonly found on kitten and can easily pass to humans as a skin infection. But it is not an absolute that you will get ringworm from the kitten. You can have the vet give medicine to get your cat cured as well. You would have to touch the cat in order to get the infection.
Ringworn - yes.: Ringworm isn't a worm; it's a fungal infection of the skin that results in a red circular rash with darker red around the edge of it, giving the appearance of a worm. So you don't get "a ringworm"; you get ringworm. And yes, if dirt gets under the skin through a cut or scrape, and contains the ringworm fungus, it can cause ringworm. An antifungal cream should clear up most cases.See 1 more doctor answer
Anti fungals..: Anti fungal creams like clotrimazole can help with this. You can find them over the counter. If despite this treatment you still have symptoms consult your PCP or Dermatology for a accurate evaluation. Direct contact: Ringworm is a skin infection caused by a fungus. The typical skin lesion of ringworm is round and scaly, and it is itchy. Your baby can get ringworm if he or she touches the lesion in someone who has ringworm, or if they touch a toy or an object or an animal that has the fungus.See 1 more doctor answer
Ringworm: Symptoms of ringworm include: itchy, red, raised, scaly patches that may blister and ooze. The patches tend to have sharply-defined edges. Red patches are often redder around the outside with normal skin tone in the center. This may look like a ring. If ringworm affects your hair, you will have bald patches. If ringworm affects your nails, they will become discolored, thick, and even crumble.
