No: At 24 years old if the eye is not able to be corrected by glasses now you are stuck with the vision you have. Staightening the eyes at an older age does not improve vision and is considered more of a cosmetic surgery. ...Read more

I'm blind in my left eye and have developed a lazy eye, will strabismus surgery help me?

I'm blind in my left eye and have developed a lazy eye, will strabismus surgery help me?

Likely: I am assuming your blind left eye has become "lazy." if the eyeball itself looks normal, but is just misdirected, you probably are a good candidate for strabismus surgery. Pediatric ophthalmologists are specialists in adult strabismus. Have a visit with one of these! they helped me! ...Read more

I am shortsighted and want refractive laser eye surgery to correct my vision. Does that mean the surface of my eye will be cut with a razor?

I am shortsighted and want refractive laser eye surgery to correct my vision. Does that mean the surface of my eye will be cut with a razor?

It depends: When lasik was first performed, a blade was used to create the flap. Now the majority of surgeons use a femto second laser to perform this step. This "all laser" lasik allows us to create more precise flaps in a more controlled manner and achieve better results. ...Read more

Hi i have ampolypia and considering squint surgery. It wont improve the vision but eyes will look straight. Can the eyes move position again?

No: you are basically "born" with the eye muscles you have and corrective efforts for "straightening" should be done when you are a child! Once "fixed" they should not move again! Consult with a Board Certified Opthamologist! Hope this helps! Dr Z ...Read more

Dr I have a problem in my right eye "lazy eye and crossed eye". I check my eye in madurai Aravind eye hospital. Dr told me we cant recover your vision?

Varies with duration: Amblyopia(lazy eye) is the process where the brain ignores the "camera" picture from one eye because it is less clear or causes double vision. It can sometimes be improved if the weaker eye is strengthened (glasses), the stronger eye is patched or if the eye is lined up better with surgery. If the process has gone on too long, the brain has turned off the eye & surgery is simply cosmetic. ...Read more

Sir I've 6/36 vision for my left eye and 6/18 for my right eye. Can I correct this using spectacles?

Eye problems: I know your feelings. I broke 5 spectacles at age 6 and have had eye trouble since. That said, at age 71 I see just fine with my left eye and much less with the right. I have gone from contacts to lenses and have not had any vision problem for years now. Spectacles are what you need. Find frames for the glasses that will make you look spectacular. Please let me know how things work out. ...Read more

What will my vision be after lasik surgery? I am severely nearsighted and currently wear glasses that correct my vision to nearly 20/20. I am concerned that laser eye surgery will not be able to restore my vision to that level. Can lasik return my vision

If : If your ophthalmologist feels that you qualify for lasik surgery, then there is a good chance that you will reach the 20/20 level after lasik surgery, as over 90% of patients undergoing lasik reach 20/20 after surgery. However, not everyone qualifies for lasik (especially those patients with high levels of nearsightedness such as over -10.0 d) and not everyone achieves 20/20 vision. My advice would be to have your eyes evaluated and then ask your surgeon to give you an estimate of what your particular chances are for reaching 20/20. ...Read more

Just had corrective eye surgery (lasik) 12 hours ago, right eye not as good as left eye. Is this normal?

Lasik: It is very common to have different vision in each eye as the healing and procedure varies. Just follow your post-op instructions and keep the eyes wel lubricated. If you had better vision just after the procedure and you notice an abrupt visual loss perhaps associated with pain then you should call your surgeon. Small variations in vision, blurry vision and severe dry eye symptoms are normal. ...Read more
