I Haven T Had A Herpes Outbreak In Years
How can I tell if I am about to or starting to have a herpes outbreak? Are there pre symptoms or indicators?
There are different types of herpes infections; herpes simplex infection of mouth (gingivostomatitis) and lips (labialis) are the most common. Others include genital herpes, and herpes zoster. Herpes infection could very mild to very dangerous depending on the type and location of the body affected. I ...Read more

Will my genital herpes outbreak pass without antiviral meds? I am experiencing second outbreak in as many years. Did take the meds the first time.
Herpes outbreaks definitely last longer and are more painful if untreated. The sooner the medication is started (i.e. At the onset of a tingling sensation prior to any herpes lesions being present) the shorter the duration of the actual herpetic lesion. Your primary care provider can prescribe a medication you can take when an outbreak occurs, and often time will give many refills since this is a chronic condition.
Take care. ...Read more
I think I have a std. I have only had one partner, my girlfriend of 3 years and she has only been with me. It appears to be a herpes outbreak on my face but I have no other symptoms. This possible?
Herpes: You will probably need to see a physician to determine what you have. To come to a diagnosis you need the history which you provided but you also need to see the lesion (the exam). ...Read more
What are some home remedies for a herpes outbreak to make the painful urinating & burning stop, the swelling go down? I have no insurance or money for a prescription. I have been diagnosed with herpes 1 & 2 for 2 years now. I am experiencing an outbreak
The only thing that I am aware of that some people have found some relief with is l-lysine supplement. However, I must say the most effective and reliable treatment is an antiviral like Acyclovir or valtrex (valacyclovir). Research low or no cost clinics in your area. Your local county hospital is a good place to start. Also, try family planning clinics, there may be free programs that will cover a visit and medication for herpes. Lastly, you can research patient assistant programs for valtrex (valacyclovir). You may be able to get some help there. You may even consider calling your previous doctor for a prescription for acyclovir. Places like walmart and target offer these medications for very reasonable prices (I believe $4 for 30 pills).

Can a genital herpes outbreak take the form of shingles on the cheek? The first outbreak years ago was bc of HSV 1, no test done this time.
Different viruses: The cause of shingles is the varicella-zoster virus. You first get chicken pox, the virus then sets up residence in the nerves in your body and comes out later in life as shingles, generally in a single nerve root distribution. It only involves one side. Genital herpes can occur with hsv 1 or 2, although more commonly type 2. ...Read more
Woman has genital herpes outbreak 4 years ago on her mons pubis only. On meds. No outbreak for 2 years.
What are chances of me getting it if I have sex with her but never come in contact with that area? Could she have other infected areas?
Maybe increase dose: Valacyclovir (Valtrex) is quite effective in reducing the frequency of herpes outbreaks, but not perfect; many people still have outbreaks but at reduced frequency. If that's what's happening, ask your doctor about doubling the dose. The usual dose is 500 mg once daily, but 1 g daily often helps and i's harmless (except increased cost). Good luck! ...Read more
Why does my leg hurt when i have a herpes outbreak? Do I need to treat if I'm not sexual active. Is it normal to have an outbreak a couple times a year
First genital herpes outbreak. If I have been having sex with the same partner exclusively for over a year, how can I have contracted this only now?
There is no correlation between infection and visible outbreaks. 90% of people infected with herpes type two, do not have sores or outbreaks. And the others can have no trigger to explain their outbreak.
The mystery here that is not included in your question is the genital herpes actually a new infection with herpes type one and not type two? Did you know your herpes blood test status? ...Read more

Bumps on the scrotum appeared a couple of weeks ago after having intercourse with a female. They are painless and have a hair in the middle of them. I did shave that area using clippers. Could this be ingrown hair or a Herpes outbreak?
No: The term "herpes" may represent two different conditions: herpes simplex, caused by herpes simplex virus, and herpes zoster, caused by varicella zoster virus. Both of these infections are caused by a direct contact with the virus with skin or mucosal membranes. Cleanness of the skin does not affect whether infection or an outbreak will occur, as both can occur if the skin is clean. ...Read more
