Cant really get the plaque off my tongue by brushing it. Would a tongue scraper help with this?

Cant really get the plaque off my tongue by brushing it. Would a tongue scraper help with this?

Tongue scraper: Start by having your tongue looked at by a dentist. What you call "plaque" may or may not be actually that and therefore trying to remove it may not be advisable or possible. Using a tongue scraper gently once a day is a good idea.

Used a tongue scraper for the first time ever and now my tongue feels kind of raw/sore. Is this normal? I had alot of plaque so I had to scrape hard

Normal reaction: It is normal for one's tongue to feel "raw" and sore if he scraped his tongue "hard". That means whenever doing something for the first time, one should be gentle. This holds true on many occasions in life, whether it be waxing a car or scraping a tongue or...

Does a tongue ring lead to more dental plaque?

Does a tongue ring lead to more dental plaque?

Other issues: That is what you should not be worrying about. There are other much more serious issues that should concern you. The ring constantly rubbing against your gum tissue will lead to recession, bone loss and possibly losing a tooth/teeth. I have seen many instances of people biting on their tongue ring and fracturing their teeth. Some had to be extracted. In addition it is more prone to infection.

I have a lump on the bottom of my tongue. It's not painful and it has what seems to be a white head, the color of plaque. Should I worry?

I have a lump on the bottom of my tongue. It's not painful and it has what seems to be a white head, the color of plaque. Should I worry?

Don't panic: The area below the tongue has a high density of salivary glands. Sounds like you may have an occluded salivary gland. Sometimes these occlusions clear on there own with salivary secretions. They tend to occur when you are dehydrated. Drink lots of water. And see your dentist for an examination of the bump

I have hardened plaque in my mouth. I've tried to remove it by brushing but it does not help. What should I do?

See a dentist: Or dental therapist. It must be professionally removed. Once soft plaque is left long enough to start to harden or calcify (about 12-24 hours depending on saliva chemistry) it is not possible to remove it bt simply brushing.

Can peroxide mouth rinses remove plaque or prevent gum disease?

Can peroxide mouth rinses remove plaque or prevent gum disease?

Rinses don't reach: Gum disease is below the gum tissue. Rinses are good above the gum, but cannot reach beneath the gum tissue and even if they were directed below the gum tissue they would be flushed out by the fluid that forms there. You treat gum disease with a method like the perio protect method that delivers doctor selected medicines below the gum tissue where it controls the bacteria.

My boyfriend found out he has a plaque disease in his mouth. Also so possiblr infections. Can this cause heart disease? What are signs of heart diseas

No: Gum disease and heart disease share common risk factors. One does not cause the other. It seems that the scientific observation that both tend to show up in the same patients has led some dentist and mds to claim that gum disease may cause heart disease. The american heart association reviewed 500 journal articles and concluded there was no proof of this.

I got 4 teeth surgically removed 4 days ago I have blisters in my mouth and what seems to be white plaque on my gums is this normal?

I got 4 teeth surgically removed 4 days ago I have blisters in my mouth and what seems to be white plaque on my gums is this normal?

Yes and no: The white plaque may simply be healing tissue or dead tissue sloughing off. The blisters are another matter. Without examination, it is hard to say. You might have placed gauze in and out too many times and pulled away the top layer of healthy tissue. Best to see the Oral Surgeon who treated you for a follow-up visit to diagnose and treat these concerns. Easy warm salt water rinses. Good Luck.
