That was not good: you need to be very cautious about what you use on such delicate areas! Warm saltwater soaks may help, avoid using other home remedies and consider seeing a doctor as the sores could be something other than what you think! Herpes: Genital herpes is by far the commonest cause of painful vaginal ulceration. It develops for the first time a week or two after exposure. Since you haven't had intercourse for months, perhaps if you have a herpes lesion(which can be solitary), it may have been the herpes seen in cold sores that you spread to the vagina. I don't think so: A folliculitis is the general, nonspecific name for an inflammation/infection of the hair follicle. There are no hair follicles in the vagina or labia minora. However, there are on the labia majora & pubic area. If you had a folliculitis of the labia majora, for instance, that should not "spread" to your vagina.
