This does not sound: Like a cold sore. Those are caused by the Herpes virus and occur on the outside of the lips/mouth, not inside. It sounds like you have a canker sore (aphthous ulcer), which some people do get recurrently, caused by change in hormone levels, stress, some medications and can have a genetic component.
