Stress? Food journal: Has this ben going on for awhile or is it more recent? Is it every night? Could you keep a food/drink journal to track everything you're ingesting to see if any of those are triggers, especially if you tend to drink alcohol at night. Also, frequent stress can cause similar symptoms, so could consider counseling to help redirect stress to not affect your GI system. May also need CT, EGD, or colonoscopy. ...Read more
I've been Diagnosed with IBS. I have stomach pain, gas, heartburn. What other symptoms are they. And what treatments can help with pain.
I started having stomach pain and smelly gas and I went poop and it was green. Afterwards I'm still having the same symptoms. What is this?
Colitis: Your symptoms are consistent with colitis which may result from a viral intestinal tract infection. Green stool and foul smelling gas are nonspecific. Avoid harsh roughage, drink adequate room temperature fluids and if you experience loose stools, take kaopectate. If symptoms worsen instead of gradually improving, see your physician. ...Read more
I have stomach pain and always have gas everyday when I awake or asleep. Does this have to do with having Gerd or acid reflux?
I don't think so.: It sounds like you're having intestinal pain as opposed to upper abdominal pain where reflux symptoms exist. Acid reflux generally is not the main source of gas or flatus. This sounds more suspicious for a lower intestinal problems such as constipation or irritable bowel. ...Read more

Microbiome Food Mind: As embodied Soul↔Mind↔Brain↔Body creatures, many issues/variables are involved. We carry ~30, 000 genes from parents, we also carry ~1 million genes in the bacteria we carry, especially in our intestines/colon, complex symbiotic relationships. Changes in emotional states (intestinal control) & food choices alter the microbiome within & these all change intestinal function with whatever symptoms. ...Read more

Just stopped antibiotics 2 days ago, and today I have horrible gas pains/ stomach pain/gas/belching. Can this be from recent antibiotics usage?
Yes: 20's female complains of "gas pains, diarrhea, stomach pains, gas" started after recent course of antibiotics. Gut is replete with good bacteria which live in symbiosis with us. Besides killing bad bacteria that cause infections, antibiotics decimate populations of beneficial ones, upsetting balance of nature in our bodies. Replenish them with probiotics: kefir, yogurt, etc. See comments: ...Read more

Could I be wheat intolerance? Can eat reduced wheat rye bread but get stomach pain and gas when I eat white or whole wheat products?
Possibly yes.: The symptoms you describe sound like you could be sensitive to gluten, a protein that's found in wheat, rye, barley and oats. I can't explain why you can tolerate wheat rye but not white or whole wheat products. They all contain gluten. Your symptoms should be checked out by a doctor. Meanwhile eat only gluten free grains (corn and rice) and tell your doctor if that reduces your symptoms. ...Read more

Garlic Intolerance: Sounds like you are intolerant of garlic. I have little tolerance for that herb unless prepared well. I don't think you have any disease but you may need to avoid garlic. Garlic is rich in Frutans and some people are sensitive to this. Keep a food diary and ask if your foods have garlic, garlic salt, garlic powder etc in them. Good luck. ...Read more
Bad gas and stomach pain at the same time each night- no matter what I eat or whether I eat. Any ideas?
Conditioning versus?: Consider gastroparesis=a slow-emptying stomach that is most symptomatic at night-time after the stomach fills from meals all day. More likely, brainstem reflexes induced by eating are often exaggerated in irritable bowel syndrome resulting in altered perception of gut distension, painful spasm, and modified transit of food. This response can be "conditioned" to the same time each day as described. ...Read more
Occasional liver discomfort/pain and less often stomach pain. Slight stomach growling with slight gas. Gets better when I lay down. What is it?
Liver is RUQ, right?: Anatomically, the right upper quadrant (RUQ) of the abdomen includes: liver, gallbladder, pancreatic head, bile ducts and ampulla, c-loop of the duodenum, stomach antrum and pylorus, the hepatic flexure of the colon. Don't forget the diaphragm and lower chest are pretty close by. The abdominal musculature, ribs, and skin can all contribute as well to localizing RUQ pain. Recent alcohol excess? ...Read more
