What causes chest pain, sharp, stinging nerve-like pain in upper left chest extending to abdomen? Brief but strong, occurring over last 3 days?

Causes and mechanism: Many potential causes of such symptoms but the same mechanism -- when the chest pain is sharp and fleeting, stinging or electrifying, can be at varying intensities -- it is caused by irritation of the nervous network in the chest wall. Yes, but: These symptoms could also be more serious. These symptoms could be due to clot in the pulmonary arteries (pulmonary embolism) or abnormal blood flow to the heart. The additional patient information listed with your question implies recent workup with d-dimer, ECG and chest xr, so maybe you have already been seen. If you have not yet, please see your doctor or go to the emergency department. ...Read more

cardiac is fine, chest pain for two months now. weight on chest and back, chest cracks, back crack, stinging/dull ache when breathing in deeply/ not?

How do you know?: The doc who declared Cardiac is fine, can lend a helping hand and rule out other causes. A thorough history and physical are the first steps.
