I Have Stabbing Ear Pain It Gets Worse At Night Is This Normal
Three swollen cervical lymph nodes all on left side of neck some ear pain doctor HS seen one of them says wait 2 month fbc normal should I be worried?
Lymph nodes: The lymph nodes usually enlarge as response to an infection in the vicinity. It lasts maximum 2-3 weeks and as the infection goes away (with antibiotics usually) the lymph nodes disappear. Outside this scenario, i would be worried and demand further investigation (ct is appropriate, a blood smear and CBC with differential, as well as a bmp with enzymes markers analysis) up to an excision biopy. ...Read more
Having severe ear pain (4 days) deep inside & behind ear into neck. No drainage, sharp/stabbing pain, worse if laying down. What can I do for relief?
Need an exam:
It's possible you have an infection in the ear canal or behind the ear drum. However your symptoms are somewhat atypical for these causes. It's possible the source of your pain is somewhere else in the in the pharynx and is being "referred" to the ear area. You need to see your physician as soon as possible. If the cause isn't apparent you need to see an ENT specialist.

Had ear infection tht spread, jaw cldnt open & stabbing pain in head behind infected ear. Pain in head has returned months later. Shld I b concerned?
See you PCP: Always pay attention to a new or recurrent/worsening pain. This could be a recurrent infection or mechanical damage from the previous infection. Or maybe you are grinding your teeth at night. A quick look in your ear and exam of the jaw and teeth should go a long way to ruling out these possibilities. It is always better to have things evaluated early BEFORE they have a chance to spread. ...Read more

Throat irritation: Your throat was irritated from any number of possibilities after your nap. You may have had a dry throat from mouth breathing or you are developing an infectious sore throat. I have server ear pain I went to the ER and I do not have a ear infection I can barely early out of it and it has a sharp pain like stsbbing pain deep?
Think of jaw mucles: The answer that was posted about fluid is probably not correct. Firstly, a diagnosis of normal ears, if we accept that, is that the sharp pain could be facial neuralgia. But the most common cause of otalgia (pain in the side of the face when the ears are normal) is tmd (temporo-mandibular disorder). Otolaryngologists see this problem very frequently and masticatory muscle spasm is most likely. ...Read more
If TMJ is cause of major ear pain (worse when weather changes), ENT says ear is normal, what is course of action? Custom mouth guard? Massage therapy?
See your dentist: Have your dentist evaluate or refer you to an oral surgeon that can better assess the area and come up with a treatment modality that just does not mask the symptoms. Once the proper diagnosis is attained, a nightguard may be the correct therapy, a series of visits with an physical therapist, or other treatments may be indicated based upon clinical and radiographic interpretation. ...Read more
Had tonsillitis week & on erythromycin. Getting rapidly worse -green spots covering tonsils, blood phlem, chills/fever, ear pain. Is this normal?
Maybe not: for bacterial throat infection that will respond to antibiotic, would expect some improvement within 3-4 days. If taking an antibiotic for a week without improvement, and an infection is present, then the infection is either due to something other than bacteria or due to a strain resistant to the antibiotic used. keep the prescribing physician up to date. ...Read more

Ear pain 2 weeks. Dr said eardrum bulging. The pain is now extreme. Is this normal? What can I do?
If the doctor said the ear was bulging he/she diagnosed it as a middle ear infection. This is quite painful and would also cause your hearing to be decreased because of the fluid behind your eardrum. The treatment would generally
be an antibiotic. If the pain has not improved in a couple of days we would usually change the antibiotic. Call your doctor and tell them what is happening. ...Read more

Infection?: Pain is usually a typical sequela that follows a tooth extraction, and it should slowly decrease as days pass. Not from the tubes: Very unlikely the ear pain you are getting has anything to do with the tubes you had as a child. Most like cause is strain of the tempromandibulr joint(tmj). Is it normal to feel pain in no-hole ear some time after pressing the outside of the ear? Pain goes up and down. I used oiled cotton pads in shower.
Need diagnosis: If you push in front of the ear, you may have a problem with the jaw joint. Another possibility is the use of a Q-tip may be irritating the skin of the external ear canal causing external otitis, which is an infection of the ear canal skin. Stop using instruments to clean your ear canals. I presume the term "no-hole ear" means you have no perforation of the ear drum. ...Read more
