I Have Spondylolysis When Can I Start Playing Sports Again
I have a torn acl, I have no pain, i can squat, jump, run and climb. I want to play soccer. If i strengthen my knee through gym can I avoid surgery?
ACL tear: The acl is the main ligament that keeps your shin bone from sliding out from under your thigh bone. There are people who can function without one but not usually playing a sport like soccer. The greatest risk is that you will go on to tear your meniscus and other cartilage and cause greater damage to your knee. I do not advise my patients to play soccer without a reconstruction. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I believe I have torn tendons in my ankle but im a huge basketball player. Should I get it checked out before I continue playing or will I be ok?
Training required: You likely had a dislocated patella (knee cap). A true dislocation of the knee- the femur dislocates from the tibia- usually results in serious ligament damage and commonly also causes arterial or nerve damage- needs urgent medical attention and requires surgery most of the time. A first time patellar dislocation can be successfully treated with therapy but you need guided training by a therapist. ...Read more
I did my PRK surgery a week ago, may I know when is the rough timeline before I can start playing soccer again?
Ask surgeon: Your surgeon will clear you. After one week, you may already be able to play depending on how quickly your eye has healed. If not today, it will likely be any day now. Unlike LASIK, PRK has no flap to worry about. As soon as the surface of your eyes has regrown the epithelial layer, you are ready to go play. Good luck and have fun! ...Read more
When feeling better: After having an ankle sprain, a person can rest a few days until the ankle feels better. He can try sports again but start with light exercise and gradually increase the activities as long as the ankle doesn't hurt during or right after the exercise. If the ankle hurts, then he may be doing too much too soon, so he should rest and try again in a couple of days. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have recently started playing sport again after 7 years football (soccer). I have serious leg pain in my calfs and knees while running. What do I do?
Take it slow: Be sure you stretch often and a lot before any exercise. Take it slowly since you have not been physically active for seven years. If the pain is not improving with rest, stretching before exercise/activity, and even trying some otc nsaids to decrease inflammation, then seek a medical exam. Best wishes. ...Read more
Difficult to "fix": Tennis elbow is overuse related degeneration of the muscle attachment to the bone on the outside of your elbow, the lateral epicondyle. It is difficult to get rid of quickly, but it usually gets better with good care. Sometimes a simple modification of your racket grip(make sure it is right circumference) can help. Stretches, eccentric strength(check out flexbar)and relative rest will do the rest. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
It's been 25 days since I had my hydrocelectomy and I really wanna know when can I get back to lifting weights or running or even playing soccer
I had to stop playing sports so i could start a job and now I have cellulite at 18. What do I do?
I sprained my ankle about a month ago playing sport but now i can walk run and jump without any pain. Should i go back to playing sports now?
A Little support.: Although a month may seem like a long time, it's actually only four weeks. Ligaments, because of the nature of the tissue, have a less than optimal blood supply so subsequently they heal slower than other tissues. Rather than risk it all too soon, why not explore the possibility of some supportive measures like taping or wearing an ankle support for another month. Thank you for using Healthtap. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What should i do for backpains? i injured it during sports (highjump) and it hurts time to time. i have stopped jumping but still do other sports
Slow return: True knee dislocations are very traumatic injuries that are often associated with injuries to multiple ligaments. Patellar-femoral dislocations (when a kneecap dislocates) is less serious but can also cause problems. The return to running is dictated by what structures have been injured. If your knee is still unstable, using a knee-brace for support may be beneficial. Be cautious with return. ...Read more
