I woke up with an extremely red eye. Half of the white of my eye is solid red. It is not sore and vision is fine. Should I seek medical attention?

Yes.: Chances are it's probably a harmless subconjunctival hemorrhage (bruise in the eye) - maybe from rubbing your eye too much during the night or cough or sneezing. And especially without pain or blurry vision, it's even less concerning. However, you only have two eyes... If you're uncertain, get it checked out. ...Read more

I hit my head on the sidewalk and got a really bad black eye from it. Half of the white part of my eye is solid red do I need medical attention?

Red eye: If there is no blurry vision or eye pain, you may just have a sub conjunctival hemorrhage and can give it time to resolve. If you have blurry vision, eye pain and/or light sensitivity, you may have ocular inflammation (uveitis), and should see an ophthalmologist promptly. ...Read more

I have a lg dark red raised pimple on the white of my eye (inner corner). What is it & does it require urgent medical attention? Eye feels sore.

"pimple on sclera": Typically this is a pingueculum if it does not invade the cornea or a pterygium if it does. They appear usually at the 3 and 9 o'clock position, the area most exposed to sun wind and floating particulate matter in air. No urgency. The become inflamed often and the eye becomes uncomfortable. I can see and feel a small cut on the outer red part of my eye. I've had medical tests done and have nothing abnormal. What could it be?

Angular blepharitis: It is not uncommon at that location for constant dampness (due to tears and secretions) to cause the skin to break down and crack. The best treatment for this is to keep the area clean with a warm moist towel once daily and use an ointment such as vaseline to coat the area 2-3 times daily until healed. In persistent cases it may be necessary to have an antibiotic ointment prescribed. ...Read more

This is not a: Medical emergency. However, at his age, he should be seen by his pediatrician. Small white dot on the brown part of my eye, I wear contacts, tearing, feeling of something there, no alergeries, redness, nonsmoker, no history, help?

Corneal ulcer: The spot is probably on the cornea, the crystal over the brown iris. As you wear contacts and feel something, it most likely is an ulcer. If it is near the edge it is probably not serious but does require treatment to prevent it from getting serious. If it is near the center, it is serious and could affect your vision. Leave your contact out and see an ophthalmologist ASAP. ...Read more

I was having redness & a small bulge in my inner lower eye for 3 days. Then it started draining sticky colorless fluid & then a little white fluid.

Stye?: Your description sounds like a stye. I assume you meant inner lower eyelid, rather than eye. A stye (hordeolum) is a plugged oil gland in the eyelid, which can sometimes become infected. Alternatively, it could be an plugged (and possibly infected) tear duct (dacryocystitis). In either case, I recommend seeing an ophthalmologist to be sure. ...Read more

Staph Margin Infiltr: A staphylococcal marginal infiltrate is the most likely diagnosis fitting your description, but a phlyctenule is also possible. Possible varicella: If all the symptoms are on the same side and particularly if you experience pain, I would be concerned about a re activation of the chicken pox virus Varicella. How to deal with a corneal ulcer I went to the outpatient clinic yesterday because I had pain in my eye, redness, and sensitivity to light. Thought perhaps pink eye but the doctor there told me it was small corneal ulcer. He prescribed two eye drops, ci

Zylet: Zylet is an unusual medication for a corneal ulcer. And infect, it is the wrong medicine for you. You are already on gentamicin and the active antibiotic in zylet is tobrmycin which is a same class of medicine as gentamicin. You will be served better with ciprofoloxacin than zylet. Zylet also has steroid in it, which makes it a wrong medicine for corneal ulcer.

You said you went to see "opt", I presume that you mean optometrist. I strongly recommend seeing an ophthalmologist. If you can find a cornea specialist that will be better. Good luck. ...Read more

Why are the 'whites' of my eyes not so white? They can look a little red/yellow at times, but they're always dull.

Gilbert's?: Whites are not always pure white. If they seem to be a little more yellow from time to time it may be that you have gilbert's syndrome - a common abnormality in which the breakdown products of your red blood cells are retained in your bloodstream and give your eyes a little yellow. This can be more pronounced during times of physiologic stress. ...Read more
