I have dandruff real bad i've tried all kind of dandruff shampoo and nothing works. Any suggestions?
Other options: I agree with dr. Hernandez. Keep the shampoo on scalp for at least 5 minutes 3 x a week. Other options are otc salicylic acid shampoo same way alternating days with nizoral (ketoconazole). Also, scalpicin can be used for itching 1-2 x daily. This is a condition that can be controlled, not cured. See a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis as other conditions such as psoriasis may appear similar. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My dandruff doesn't seem to be going away. I've used shampoos, shower every day but nothing works. Any suggestions?
Let it sit: Sometimes applying dandruff shampoo, rubbing it in, and allowing it to dry before washing it off (about 15 minutes) will help. Do this 3 times a week for a few weeks, then periodically after. If if doesn't work, see your doctor for prescription to help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Im getting dandruff and its not going away , ive used prescibed shampoo but it still don't work. What do you think I should do?
If you don't have: dandruff then why use dandruff shampoo. It might make your scalp too dry. On the other hand, you probably don't have dandruff BECAUSE you are using the dandruff shampoo. See what happens when you discontinue the dandruff shampoo. If dandruff develops off the shampoo, then simply go back to using it. ...Read more

Maybe not dandruff: Dandruff shampoos actually work quite well if picking the right one and that the problem is truly dandruff-- excessive shedding of dead skin cells on scalp caused by a scalp-specific fungus, malassezia globosa. If otc trials of several shampoos w/o success, consult doc for eval--possible causes such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis/eczema etc... Good luck to you. ...Read more

I have dandruff. I have tried every brand of shampoo nothing works. What can I do? Head and shoulders works but only for awhile. So? Pls help
Dandruff: Well, you may want to be examined by doctor first as certain diseases like psoriasis can resemble dandruff but are treated differently. If it is dandruff, i suggest trying coal tar shampoo or selenium sulfite one (over-the-counter formulation). Also, Nizoral (ketoconazole) shampoo may be a good option. Dermatologist: If daily shampooing has not controlled your "dandruff" it may be more than dandruff and it would be time to consult a dermatologist to rule out other conditions, such as psoriasis. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually.
