Guessing?: If it is on the right side and even in the middle, you could be experiencing gallbladder disease/stones. There could be gastritis or an ulcer. It could be a presentation of multiple other GI and non-gi issues. Sounds as though you need to be see and examined and perhaps have some testing done. Common complaints in runners are due to phrenic nerve irritation and diaphragmatic spasm (runner's stitch) which result in discomfort in this area or on the right side. Talt to PCP: The causes of pain you described are usually from acid reflux, muscle pain, costocondritis and rarely from GB stone. As the information is incomplete and as you are young this is unlikely from heart or lung origin. Unnecessary tests sometimes bring false positive results. A Pretest probability is crucial. Pulled muscle: Its likely musculoskeletal at your age. Check bra tightness, try 2 aleve 2x per day for a week if no hx of ulcers. If nausea, vomiting, etc ensue go get seen, low probability for cardiac but god forbid i give the wrong advise on chest pain.
