What is wrong with my hip? Hip pain/ numbness down leg and foot?

What is wrong with my hip? Hip pain/ numbness down leg and foot?

Pain and Numbness: If the hip hurts but the pain goes down to the knee, calf, foot or toes, you may wish to consider it sciatica - a pinched nerve in your back. If the pain doesn't get better after 6 - 8 weeks of rest from high demand activity, tylenol (acetaminophen) or anti-inflammatory medicines, it may be worth seeing a doctor. If the leg loses function (weakness) or if other major health issues develop - see one sooner.

See details: This is radicular pain caused by nerve compression in the lower back (sciatica). There are several approaches available including physical therapy, antiinflammatory meds and targeted injections. See an orthopedist or rheumatologist.

I am in my 40s and have chronic lower back and hip pain. Pain shoots down front of leg. Foot gets numb and tingly. Any ideas what it could be?

I am in my 40s and have chronic lower back and hip pain. Pain shoots down front of leg. Foot gets numb and tingly. Any ideas what it could be?

Possibly a sciatica: A sciatica is caused by an irritation of a nerve in the back that then can cause pain that runs down the leg like you are describing. There are also potentially other causes as well. Usually a detailed history and exam can determine the cause. Thank you for your question.

Pain on left side hip from front and back of leg travels to foot hard to walk very painful if sciatica is it bound to get hip pain and on both legs?

Pain on left side hip from front and back of leg travels to foot hard to walk very painful if sciatica is it bound to get hip pain and on both legs?

Rarely: Usually sciatica stays on one side, occasionally can affect both sides, but if I were you, I would see a specialist, perhaps a urologist to determine the cause of your sciatica. That will give you a better answer as to what is going to happen.

I've had a leg cramp for 3 days, it's moved down my leg, and now my foot is numb, but still with a lot of leg/hip pain. Is this dangerous?

Leg pain and numbnes: Sounds like sciatica, the way you describe the pain moving down your leg and having numbness. This is usually due to a slipped disc. Would have it checked out.

See your doctor: Given the past surgery, seeing your doctor is strongly suggested to determine if additional evaluation needs to be performed. You may need imaging studies to evaluate the area, depending on any findings on physical exam.

Heavy pain in left calf and shin, deep inside leg. Doctor gave me steroid shot in left hip. Pain stopped in 3 days. Heal/bottom foot now herts?

It is possible: You were applying to much stress to the foot due to your original pain and as a result developed plantar fascitiis. But my recommendation would be to follow up with thet doctor who gave you the shot.

Yes: A lumbar disc protrusion can definitely cause hip and leg pain. There are also many other potential causes including having a bad hip itself. A physical exam can usually determine the cause of your pain. Thank you for the question.

Heavy pain left calf and shin. Doc gave me steroid shot left hip. Pain subsided. Now pain in left heal/bottom of foot. What can cause this?

The shot... maybe: If, in the process of injecting your hip, the tip of the needle touched the sciatic nerve, that would explain referred pain in your heel and foot. If this is the case, it should resolve over time. I would certainly report this new finding to the doctor who gave you the shot. Hope this helps. Feel better!

I have constant hip pain and muscle spasms in my thigh and calf with numbness in the outer half of my foot. What other tests besides MRI should happen?

I have constant hip pain and muscle spasms in my thigh and calf with numbness in the outer half of my foot. What other tests besides MRI should happen?

Nerve damage: What your experiencing is nerve damage. It will or may be permanent if the cause is not corrected. Nerve conduction velocity is needed to help determine this. I would get the MRI asap. Then have your physician refer you to a neurosurgeon and neurologist to get further evaluation. A normal MRI and abnormal nerve study may indicate a more severe condition in terms of a demyelinating process.

Plantar fasciitis both feet hip pain both hips lower back pain right thigh is spasming. Help?

Maybe Orthotics.: It sounds like you may have a biomechanical instability in your feet that is passing problems "up the kinetic chain." custom made prescription orthotics, made by a certified lab, under the recommendations of a podiatrist can help tremendously!
