I have chest pain all day everyday because I have g.e.r.d but why does my chest hurt worse at night?

Gravity: If chest pain is primarily due to GERD, then it is common to have worse pain at night. The reason is gravity. More stomach acid can leak out of your stomach into your esophagus causing burning. Also, the valve between your esophagus & stomach is less competent (more leaky) due to change in pressure gradient on either side due to lying down position & gravity. Been having left chest pain and on back of left scalpa I lift weights and do cardio could this pain be possible due to weight trainning?

Most likely: Given your age, gender and level of fitness, the most likely cause is "musculoskeletal", that is related to the tendons, bones and muscles in your body; rather than your heart itself. This is especially suggested by the pain being present with lifting weights "isometric", which usually doesn't strain the heart itself.
Visit your doctor, to screen for more serious, but unusual causes. ...Read more

I've been having constant chest pain for over an hour now and I feel like it's been getting worse. I'm 30 years old. Any idea what's going on?

Hard to say but: I wouldn't ignore chest pain. You should seek an in-person evaluation and sooner rather than later. ...Read more

I have severe chest pain around my sternum which is worse when lying down and trying to move around. What could this be?

Go to the ER: Severe chest pain should never be taken lightly. The positional nature of the chest pain makes one think of a possible pericarditis (inflammation or infection of the lining around the heart) although this could be a heart attack, blood clot, lung infection, etc. All possibilities that are very serious and should be excluded rapidly. Especially because you are on an immunosuppressive. Go now! ...Read more

My daughter keeps complaining of chest pain when she coughs. We went to the doctors but he said it's normal but it's getting worse.?

Hope this helps: Chest pain when coughing is very common and usually resolves shortly after the cough starts to improve. If there is no reason that your daughter can't have ibuprofen you could give her a dose to see if that at least takes the edge off the pain. If she is having difficulty breathing at all or if it hurts to breathe then she needs to be re-evaluated asap. ...Read more

Multiple Causes: Chest pain can be a symptom of heart disease but may be may other things such as esophageal spasms, great vessel disease, respiratory disorders (asthma, COPD, bronchitis, infections), muscle problems, or anxiety to name a few. It's been a week in a half and this cold gets better than it gets worse! It's going up and down with a persistent congested cough & chest pain?!

Infection: A good rule of thumb is that if an upper or lower respiratory infection persists beyond approximately 10 days, it likely has become a bacterial infection. You likely have a lower respiratory infection and need to see your doctor. Antibiotics probably would be helpful. Get seen soon and other supportive therapy will be given to make you feel better. ...Read more

Chest pain over the past few days. Is it possible that it's cardiac and need to be seen tonight. It is worse tonight than it has been and bp is 166/96

Don't play odds.: One of the vital signs (BP) is abnl, so something is going on. At your age (21) cardiac causes are unlikely but possible. In any case, it's best not to take chances. An ER or Urgent Care center, can perform "diagnostic trials" of different drugs to narrow cause. Nitro generally means cardiac; but antacids ("green goddess") means GI (acid reflux). There are many possibilities. Get help soon! ...Read more

See your doctor.: No 18-year-old should have persistent symptoms of chest pain and palpitations with exertion. If you have not already seen your family physician, now is the time. I would think that you should have at least an EKG and maybe a stress test. Good luck. ...Read more

What cause chest pain worse with front or back head movement?

What cause chest pain worse with front or back head movement?

Not specific enough: I'm afraid that your symptoms are not specific enough to make a diagnosis over the internet. Most cardiac issues are not related to head movement but sometimes vascular issues are. Musculo skeletal strain is the most likely cause but if the symptoms are new or you are particularly worried about this then it would be worthwhile seeking a medical evaluation as soon as possible. ...Read more

Chest pain that radiates to back, cough, congestion, headache, hurts to take a full breathh and hurts worse when laying down.

Pericarditis: Sounds a lot like pericarditis, which is an inflammation of the sac that surround the heart. A lot of time it is secondary to some other infection, like bronchitis. Could also be pleurisy, which is an inflammation of the lining of the lungs. I'd get checked out by your doctor to be sure. ...Read more
