Gastritis: probably you have gastritis,limit amount of coffee and alcohol you consume.May try a prevacid (lansoprazole) over the counter 30 mg pills once daily,give it a trial of 14 days if no relief seen a doctor.In am mean time do you have any weight loss?Are uyou symptoms related to food intake? ...Read more

GERD: Behind the sternum if other the position for burning but it can be higher or lower. Occasionally patients will reflux into the area of their vocal cords and chest. Be sure you are assessed on a regularly basis and have an endoscopy as often as recommended. All the best. ...Read more

Consider this...: If you're indicating your epigastrium (just below the ribs in the midline), then you may have peptic disease (e.g. ulcer, gerd, reflux) or contractions or delayed emptying of the gut in that location (stomach, mid-colon). Less likely (& appropriate to symptom duration, intensity, timing, risks) your gallbladder or pancreas may be sick. Best to get checked. ...Read more

Acid reflux: Are you on any medications? How old are you/ For reflu would try prevecid 30 mg a day and ranitidine 150 mg a day also for the first 2 days try maalox , 1 tablespoon twice a day. For a male over 30 years old ( and if you are under 30 and use cocaine) we always have the heart in mind and so would follow up today at urgent care /doctor for EKG. ...Read more

EGD: A scope or EGD will answer your question and screen for serious issues like stenosis, mass, cancer. In the meantime, use TUMS, (calcium carbonate) they lower the acid. With GERD, acid comes up the esophagus and burns the tissues. Be Well. ...Read more

R/O PLEURITIS: PLEURITIS=inflammation of the lining of the lung and Pericarditis = inflammation of the lining of the heart can both cause referred shoulder pain. As well as a PE=Lung blood clot.
