I Have Had A Cough For A Year
I have had a cough for a year, have been tested for asthma and I don't have it. There is no infection and I regularly lose my voice what could it be?
Few possibilities: First i would be sure you had " complete pfts. " including methacholine challenge .If that has all been done, gastric reflux is a possibility ..As is chronic rhinosinusitis causing postnasal drip---> coughing. I would also have full allergy skin testing and if all that had been done --maybe upper endoscopy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have had a cough for years quit smoking a year ago still have cough and pains under left breast?
Suggest evaluation: Nice job quitting smoking! having a cough for that long suggests that you should have a physical exam and history with a health professional. Cough may be simply from post-nasal drip, or acid coming up from stomach. But could also be from asthma or other lung problem. Talk to a provider about all the issues, including pain near left breast. ...Read more
I have had a cough that doesn't go away along with me loosing me voice very often i been like this for a year i was given medication and nothing?
Could be reflux?: It's interesting that chronic reflux (food sloshing up into the esophagus) may cause symptoms other than heartburn. Cough, wheezing, hoarseness are all symptoms of reflux! If you were treated specifically for cough, or for asthma, you may need a different medication to address the problem. Talk to your doctor about this. Good luck. LGromkoMD ...Read more
I was sick around thanksgiving last year with the flu. Since then i have had a cough, going on 6 months. antibiotics x 5 roumds?
Asthma? Bronchitis?: That's too long for a cough or for repeated antibiotic treatment. Your influenza may have triggered an underlying problem. It's time for additional exams and tests to check out things like asthma and other causes of chronic cough. See your doctor, and don't accept yet another antibiotic prescription without further evaluation. If you're a smoker, do your best to stop. ...Read more
