Depends: If chronic, then maybe not. Generally caused either by infection or some other reason for inflammation/congestion closing off the eustachian tube that drains the middle ear. Notice you use afrin (oxymetazoline); daily afrin (oxymetazoline) use (for more than 4 days or so) could exacerbate the problem. If you have chronic congestion and fullness in the ears, recommend seeing a rhinitis specialist. ...Read more

Depends: If the fluid is clear and not infected antibiotics will not help. Sometimes a decongestant or sinus wash could help you with this problem. Best to have somebody examine your ear drums before deciding. ...Read more

I went to the doctor and told me I have fluids in both of my ears. And i'm still feeling off balance. She prescribe antibiotic but still i feel dizz.

Lose the fluid: You need to encourage drainage of the fluid, which if otherwise healthy, can be done with Pseudoephedrine orally or afrin (/generic) nasal spray for a day or two until the antibiotic gets a foothold. That should help your balance/dizziness. Good luck. ...Read more

Answer: There is most likely fluid and mucous inside your Eustachian tube causing the blockage. If popping the ear does not help, try using a decongestant nasal spray such as Afrin or Neosynephrime in the nostril on the side of the blockage, drinking clear liquids, and avoiding dairy products. There is no hard and fast rule about this, but I will usually prescribe antibiotics after a week if unimproved. ...Read more
