I've 2 quarter size inflamed dry patches of skin that came up 2 weeks ago. Its itchy! Been given fucicort but it isn't working. Do you have any ideas?

Depends on location: The spots could be a form of eczema. In my experience the medication works better in an ointment base for this type. If the fucicort is a cream you could try applying white petrolatum over it (like plasin vaseline). But there are other possible causes of what you describe, including a fungal infection, which could worsen with fucicort. ...Read more

Why is my skin reacting (dry patches, itchy rash) to my insulin pump sites?

Why is my skin reacting (dry patches, itchy rash) to my insulin pump sites?

Adhesive reaction?: I would wonder if you are becoming sensitive to the adhesive used at the site. It is unlikely to be a reaction to the insulin. Also, make sure there is no latex in your supplies. You might try putting some Hydrocortisone cream on your skin in the area before attaching the insertion needle. ...Read more

My friend has a dry round patch on his neck size of a half dollar, his skin is a litter lighter in the dry patch he said its not itchy or not red.?

Fungus: This sounds like a fungal infection. This could be "ringworm" (tinea corporis) or tinea versicolor. If it is tinea corporis, then it is contagious. If it is tinea versicolor, then it is more of a nuisance, but can be challenging to control. I would see your pcp or a dermatologist to get an actual diagnosis. ...Read more

I have a dry white/red itchy flaky patch on my nose. Looks like a patch of stripped skin, and the normal brown skin around it is flaking. What is it?

Picture=1000 words: Without a seasoned doctor taking a look or picture of the lesion, it is hard to say what it is or could be. A lot depends on answers to questions he/she may pose: were u out in the sun a lot (even in winter)? Do u use any chemical /cosmetics? Any medical problems that run in ur family? Any other signs/symptoms (weight loss, etc.)? It could be benign (psoriasis, seborrhea) or it could be ominous. ...Read more

I have several patches of dry very itchy skin around my waist. The patches are roundish and almost blue-black in color. The patches do not change much whether or not I am wearing something that rubs against the skin around my waist.

This: This may be a nickel allergy. Do you wear anything around your waist that is metal? Even if you don't wear it every day you may still have the rash to prove it. If this is possible, stop wearing the piece of clothing that has metal. Use over the couter Hydrocortisone up to four times a day. If this does not work or not a possible scenario visit your primary care doctor or dermatologist for an evaluation.
Good luck. ...Read more
