I Have Chronic Phlegm In My Throat What Can I Do
Salt water cleanout: Chronic phlegm is often a result of postnasal drip. My first suggestion be to try to wash out the postnasal drip. A salt water wash out of your nasal passageways on a daily basis can be useful. There are many nasal rinse kits available over-the-counter for this. If this is not adequate, then prescription nose sprays can be helpful. But there may be other issues, so see you doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Mucinex, (guaifenesin) MD: Thick phlegm can be thinned out with something like a mucinex, (guaifenesin) which can be found at most drug stores. However, if this is a chronic problem, you should visit an md to determine what the root cause of the phlegm is: reflux, allergies, post-nasal drip, or lung issues.
