I have been giving my wife vitamin B12 shots in her upper arm. Last time she said her arm feels numb there. Anything to worry about?
I have been given a vitamin B12 shot now my arm is numb and has been for 3 days and i think there was a lot of air on it can it hurt me ?
Nothing serious but: My best guess is the needle hit a nerve ; traumatized it.The nerve should heal over time. Air in the syringe isn't a problem; if one injects a lot of air directly into an artery it can cause an air embolism with immediate serious consequences.A bit of air in veins or muscles causes no harm. I've given B12 shots for 25 years ; this hasn't happened so i question the skill of the person who gave it. ...Read more
Hello, I have received a vitamin B12 injection in my right arm I am experiencing numbness for a week is this normal? How long will it lsst?
Nerve damage: It sounds like a nerve in your upper arm was injured by the needle when you received the injection. This sort of damage usually does go away, but it can sometimes take a long time to heal. A properly given injection should not be done in a way that causes this type of injury. ...Read more

Do I have a vitamin B12 deficiency or MS? Im 19, female with tingling, numbness in head/scalp, feet, legs, and hands. Muscle spasm? Anxiety maybe?
My wife was also given vitamin B12 shots for B12 deficiency (169pg/ml) during her 7th week of pregnancy. Any comments on the course of treatment.
Treat aggressively: Low B12 in early pregnancy significantly increases risk of neural tube defects, a serious birth defect. If this was my patient i'd give injections of methylcobalamin (not cyanocobalamin) 1000 mcg every day until levels come up ; test to make sure your baby was not already affected. Anorexia: Appetite is a complex process mediated by the brain, emotions, metabolic needs, health of the gut & surrounding organs. Lack of weight loss would be good news here. I recommend a visit to your doctor to discuss the circumstances that preceded your anorexia & that may contribute to its persistence. Simple testing is appropriate. Of note, your B12 level is normal. ...Read more
