I Have Been Diagnosed With Prediabetes What Can I Eat To Go Back To Normal
Prediabetes food: In general, eat more fruits and vegetables, non-starchy vegetables (broccoli, grean beans), whole grains over processed foods, dry beans, fish 2x/week, lean meats (things end with "loin"), non-fat dairy and as always, lots and lots of water. Normal weight severely symptomatic prediabetes on low carb diet w/ fam history of type 1&2. Should i eat normal for 2-3 mos so my #s meet diagnosis req to get tx?
I'm confused. I had my A1c done and it came back 5.8 my doctor said it's normal range but i saw online it is prediabetes? Am i normal or prediabetic?
Hb a1c of 5.8: For people without diabetes, the normal range for the hemoglobin a1c (h) test is between 4% and 5.6%. Hemoglobin a1c levels between 5.7% and 6.4% indicate increased risk of diabetes, and levels of 6.5% or higher indicate diabetes. You need to speak to your physician (p) about any risk factors, obesity and/or lack of exercise you may be able to modify to get your h below 5.7. Your p knows you best. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Had pre-diabetes. Is it possible i had diabetes type 2 in past but blood sugar went down to pre-diabetes? Can 1 go from havin diabetes back to normal?
All a spectrum: It's all one continuous pathway from Insulin resistance to prediabetes to overt diabetes. The dividing lines are totally arbitrary. Prediabetic diet.: The diet for prediabetes includes fiber (35 grams daily for females, 50 grams for men). Smaller more frequent meals is the rule as well. Eat five or six times daily, dividing the fiber amongst the meals evenly. Low fat, low cholesterol, rich in fruits and vegetables and lean protein sources. Supplementing cinnamon and chromium could help control the bloody sugars, too. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I am 23 and I have a hgba1c of 5.3% and a fasting bs of 97. Should I be worried about prediabetes because I am on the high side of normal?
No: Sure your fasting might be on the high side of normal but your average sugar (hgba1c) over the last 3 months is excellent. We would only worry about pre-diabetes if your hgba1c is >5.7% or if your fasting glucose is consistently >100. So relax. But remember to practice healthy eating habits & regular exercise. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
