Wasn't fully answered... Can a dental abscess be hard and if so what causes it and would it causes white and dark patches on tossils and throat?

A lot to cover...: 1) hard? Yes. Long term infections grow inside the bone causing the bone to expand. It is hard because it is encased in bone, or under high pressure under the soft tissue. 2)unsure if i've seen these cause patches on the tonsils. Sounds like maybe strep throat or something else. See an endodontist/dentist for tooth eval, and physician for the throat. ...Read more

What can cause swollen glands under chin like close to the throat?! help please freakin out ! I have a tooth abcess! do I have ludwings agnia?

Abscessed tooth: An abscessed lower back tooth can cause swollen glands in the area you describe. Your glands (lymph nodes) swell up when they are fighting an infection in that area. This is what they are supposed to do. It is unlikely that you have ludwig's angina. Regardless you need to see a dentist or an oral surgeon tomorrow morning. They may place you on an antibiotic to help shrink the infection. ...Read more

Went to the ER cause my neck is slightly swaollen by jaw they said nothing was wrong gave me an atibotic is this normal with a tooth abcess?.

Normal for ER: I have a great respect for er physicians. They will be the first to agree they don't like handling dental problems. The er concern is to get you out of the er. Usually with a very temporary relief not solution. Pain meds and antibiotics are good until the antibiotic effect is gone, the pain returns and you run out of pain meds. You get to do it all over again. Find a dentist for dental pain. ...Read more

Sebaceous cyst: The cephalexin was prescribed to treat the infection. This will likely improve the swelling/size of the cyst, but will not get rid of it.
