Ouch: Sometimes this is due to atrophy (lack of estrogen). Also consider a yeast infection, and lastly something called lichen sclerosis. To diagnose the latter, you need a biopsy of the area. Given there is slightly increased risk of vulvar cancer with lichen sclerosis, you may want to have this looked at just to be sure. In meantime, consider anti-fungal and/or estrogen cream.
