How can I tell if a bump on my tongue is a tumor? It seems to be irritated in morning. I have a permanent retainer. I have an app not sure go sooner.

Have it examined: The chance of a serious growth on your tongue is minimal at your age. Whether or not it's normal, an inflamed papilla, a small benign growth or something else can be determined once you see a dentist to have it e-valuated. Most likely this will not even need to be biopsied but does need to be seen, especially if it’s been there more than 2 weeks. ...Read more

Voice lessons: Some people have high pitched voice even as adults. If you have taken music lessons, you know about the different octaves in the musical scale. If you want to speak with a lower voice, you can purposefully bring your voice down by one octave, and just practice speaking that way to see how it sounds. Or take voice lessons to achieve your goal, if you really think it's important for you. ...Read more

Could I have an anxiety disorder and unnoticed stress that manifests itself with voices and hallucinations rather than the diagnoses of bipolar?

Could I have an anxiety disorder and unnoticed stress that manifests itself with voices and hallucinations rather than the diagnoses of bipolar?

Need competent eval: One way that it would be possible to have an anxiety disorder with psychosis would be for your anxiety disorder to be rooted in temporal lobe epilepsy. Given the fact that you have auditory and visual hallucinations, this would be a possibility. One other possibility would be a dissociative disorder that has not been diagnosed. It is of course possible to have both of the above. Dissociative disorders particularly commonly present with bipolar symptoms that remit when the underlying trauma has been dealt with appropriately. Best wishes. Please see a very competent psychiatrist. ...Read more

Hearing voices: Hearing voices can be difficult, especially if they put you down. The messages in our brains can get scrambled, like several stations on a radio coming through at once, though it's all our own thoughts. If your doc has given you medicine, make sure you also get some psychotherapy by a psychologist who specializes in your area. That combination can be very helpful. Very good question: That's a great question. It's thought that the SUPERIOR TEMPORAL GYRUS along with a place called Brodmann Area 42 (auditory association area in the brain) work together somehow to produce this phenomenon. It's an area of hot research since interventions could be used to target these areas and "quiet" the voices down.
