Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

For the past week my cervix has been low soft open wet. But today its high soft closed could I be pregnant I also have mild pain on 1 side n spotting?

Hard to tell: It can be hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women. A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result if done correctly. One can test about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. An Ob-Gyn doctor can evaluate any persistent or worrisome symptoms. ...Read more

A low cervix. Would I have a chance to get pregnant?

Yes: Cervical prolapse and vaginal relaxation is common in women in their 40's and older especially after having some children, however that should not effect your ability to conceive. It is much harder and more risky to conceive over 40. ...Read more

What does your cervix feel like when you are pregnant. Mine is mushy soft high and wet?

It takes a long: Time to be able to do a pelvic exam. Your better off leaving that alone. Soft and mushy is not really what we look for. We look for dilation, thinning and efface ent, texture or softening is part of it, i'll give you that, but I wouldn't be trying to self examine or diagnose. You'll drive yourself crazy and may pull a muscle. Gd luc. ...Read more

Can I still get pregnant if my cervix is low and hard?

Can I still get pregnant if my cervix is low and hard?

Ovulation: Yes. Of course. You get pregnant when your ovary releases an egg if there is sperm there waiting to impregnate it. The position of your cervix has no bearing on your ability to conceive. Sperm manage to find the cervix and swim through it regardless of where it is anatomically. ...Read more

Is your cervix low and open in the early stages of pregnancy?

Is your cervix low and open in the early stages of pregnancy?

NO, HIGH/CLOSED: In early pregnancy the cervix is closed and 'fairly high' in the vagina unless there is 'significant pelvic relaxation' from previous vaginal deliveries. If the cervix dilates in early pregnancy, then a miscarriage may result. This problem usually occurs ~14 weeks and is referred to as 'incompetent cervix'. Because the baby is well protected, sex is ok in pregnancy unless there is a complication. ...Read more

My cervix is low not real hard, im 16 days late can I be pregnant?

Only possibly: Obviously pregnancy is always a possibility when your period is late, but at 16 days you should definitely have other symptoms like fatigue, urinary frequency, breast tenderness, and nausea, and a home test will easily be positive. It is good that you are aware of your body, but the changes that you note may simply indicate approaching ovulation. ...Read more

Hi im 3 days late and my cervix is low, hard and closed and I know I cant be pregnant because my husband was out of town? What could it be?

No conclusions: Cervical position essentially means nothing. This is not something that obgyns evaluate in a nonpregnant woman. There is no reason to be making any sort of health decisions based on the way your cervix feels. The cervix stays basically closed until one goes into labor. If you feel a mass on your cervix have a doctor verify. If you feel you have uterine prolapse a doctors can check that too ...Read more

I'm 4 weeks 6 days pregnant with 3rd child and noticed my cervix is low firm and closed should I be worried im still waiting for first antenatal app?

Cervical position: The cervical position is not something you need to be checking. It is important during the end of the third trimester and when you are in labor. Other than that it is not relevant. Even though you are only 22 since you have been pregnant 3 times it is not surprising that already have a mild degree of uterine prolapse. This is not an issue that will affect pregnancy but may later in life. ...Read more

My period is due tomorrow and my cervix is tightly closed, hard and low. Could I be pregnant?

Can I be pregnant?: The anatomy of the cervix is not in any way used as a diagnosis for possible pregnancy.
That is about all we can offer you here other than to remind you that if you feel you could be pregnant and the period does not start then after it is missed it is time to do a pregnancy test.

If you want more advice now, we would need an ovulatory, menstrual and sexual history from you. ...Read more

My cervix felt like the tip of my nose and was low, I have many symptoms of pregnancy, but had 2 hpt neg. What's going on?

Probably normal: The cervix has been described as feeling like the tip of a nose, which I think is fairly apt. In women who have had vaginally delivered babies, the cervix is usually lower than it was previously. A low cervix is not an indication of pregnancy however. ...Read more
