See ENT doctor: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you and your symptoms warrant evaluation by a physician. Five months is long enough to wait and watch, it is time to see an ENT doctor and if needed have the lesion removed.

Cancer (Definition)

Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more

I have a scab on the crown of my head could it be cancer?

I have a scab on the crown of my head could it be cancer?

Scab: Any nonhealing skin lesion can be malignant. If this lesion doesn't heal have your physician examine it but it may well be a nonmalignant lesion like psoriasis for example, but you will get peace of mind.

I have a small scab on my back I'm afraid it may be skin cancer.?

Be proactive: Hi I don't have any mention of your age so determining the probability of this been cancer is a bit harder the best thing to do is to have it examined. A good skin examination will reveal if you need to have any concerns. The best thing to do now is to have a physician look at your scab and the rest of your skin. Best wishes and happy holidays

A black scab appeared on my back. How can I know if it's skin cancer?

A black scab appeared on my back. How can I know if it's skin cancer?

Sure it's a scab?: The word "scab" usually means dried blood (like on a skinned knee). Dangerous skin cancers (melanomas) can be black but usually begin as flat dark spots that do not protrude upward from the skin until later. All black skin lesions should be evaluated by a physician ASAP! Please show this to your doctor immediately. Good luck.

I have a scab on my hand that I cant just pick off. Neosporin did nothing too. Could this be skin cancer? I'm only 25 though and never go tanning

How long: How long has the scab been present? What is it from originally? In general if you recall an injury to the area and the scab is adherent, just give it time. However, if the lesion just looks like a scab and isn't from a recent injury I would recommend getting it checked. If an area is not healing, or nor resolving after a few weeks have it checked by your doctor.

Were it that simple: Without a photograph it's not possible to speculate on your particular growth. But, some very basic and accurate information on skin cancer with photos is provided by the american academy of dermatology, and a link is below. Https://www. Aad. How can you tell the difference between melanoma, the other skin cancers, and moles/scabs?

How can you tell the difference between melanoma, the other skin cancers, and moles/scabs?

Skin exam/biopsy: A dermatologist can recognize the difference between these in many cases just off of a skin exam. If they still have a concern/suspicion, a biopsy can be performed to definitively identify the lesion.

I noticed a scab on the side of my nose today but don't remember scratching it. It looks like it could be bleeding. Could it be cancer?

Unlikely: It is common to have small scab especially in very dry air. Removing the scab may cause tear to superficial nasal vessels causing bleeding.

Non-healing lesion: Even though this is not cancerous I would consider removing the lesion. Discuss with your doctor or dermatologist. There is little reason to have such a lesion on your face, this could be some type of a tract or the opening to a cyst. Seek another opinion if you do not get satisfaction.

I found a spot on my nose that looks like it could be skin cancer but I was able to peel it off like a scab is it?

Possibly: Sounds more like skin damage from the sun called Actinic Keratosis. Go to your primary care physician and they should be able to freeze it off.

Need more info: It is unlikely to be skin cancer. Did you hurt that site? Was it subject to constant rubbing from shoes or something else? For now watchful waiting is appropriate. If the lesion does not bleed, ulcerate, become foul smelling or has a discharge, you may give it time to heal. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

Concerned about 1mm sore beside eyebrow that hasn't healed over a month. No change in size no scab. Looks like red dot. Can this be skin cancer?

Not likely: A 1mm lesion is likely benign and represents either a blood blister, hemangioma or focal inflammatory/vascular extravasation from bug bite. Is it raised? Does it itch? It is very unlikely that a pinpoint red 1mm macule is cancerous. If you are worried, a visit to the dermatologist will give you the reassurance you need.

I have 5-7 lumps on my neck, behind ear, spine. They start out like a small hard lump or large lump and scab over. I'm 22. is this cancer? It don't hurt

I have 5-7 lumps on my neck, behind ear, spine. They start out like a small hard lump or large lump and scab over. I'm 22. is this cancer? It don't hurt

Possibly infection: If the lesions end up with scabs it sounds more likely that these lumps are infection such as a boil or abscess. However, I tend to be conservative and the lumps should be evaluated and if necessary a biopsy may be taken or if there is discharge then a culture could be taken. See a medical provider. Good luck
