New finding of mucus: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. Infect/gallbladder: If those symptoms have been going on for more than 7 days you may have a bacterial or parasitic infection. If you have pain on the right under the ribs it may be your gallbladder. Less likely but still possible is an issue related to the foods you are eating.
