Depends: If you have also been having chills or a fever, there's a decent chance you might have a pneumonia, in which case you will need an antibiotic. If this is just bronchitis and the pain is simply from coughing, a little Ibuprofen might help. Frankly, you probably need a physical and a chest xray. Maybe Viral: The chest infection may be viral and will not respond to any antibiotic. Clarithromycin is a good broad spectrum antibiotic for a chest infection. Get some Mucinex (guaifenesin) DM to help with your symptoms. I hope you feel better soon. ...Read more
